Southern Oddities

The Spy Who Loved Me - Anniston, Alabama

Listen Later

Anniston, Alabama has a lot of history, from the civil war to the Woodstock Iron Company, the brave heroes of the Freedom Riders during the Civil Rights Movement, and The Anniston Army Depot, a major weapons storage and maintenance site during World War 2. What if I told you, there is more World War 2 secrets and artifacts within Anniston, that go back to spies during the war and even the most hated man in history, the dictator of Germany, who rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party becoming fuhrer in 1934, Adolf Hitler.

If that peaked your interest, the story goes even further into how two spies fell in love, moved to Anniston, Alabama, kept a low profile, until opening a museum. With the museum being dedicated to spy equipment, weapons, war booty, rare books, and more at the Berman Museum of World History.
