  • #70 Stories - To my Firstborn 'H': Tu Tu Tu Tu Ti Ti

In my last episode, I mentioned that the sound quality may be different as I was recording it in a different environment - I was actually recording it in the ward of a hospital.

This is by far my most personal episode ever. This episode is dedicated to my firstborn, 'H'. Yes, I have a new baby boss in life and I am now a Father. ๐Ÿค—

Listen in to my surreal experience of meeting my firstborn 'H' last week in the delivery room.

P.S. H's first cry included. Shoutout to my superwoman wife.

  • #69 Stories - Home Telecommunications

Telecommunications is one of the most important things in the history of humans, and we have come a really long way. Back in the 1700s, humans used smoke signals and drums. Today, we are in the midst of 5G network, and works have also started on 6G as we speak. Of course, I won't be talking about 6G network. I would like to introduce you to the unique home telecommunications I have in my old home.ย

Listen in and have a glimpse of how my parents, elder brother DDK and I communicate in our home, and why my house sounds like a call centre.ย

If you have Netflix, catch the Korean comedy drama 'The Sound of Your Heart' (the original version with Lee Kwang-soo) - this is quite a good depiction of the vibes in my family.ย

P.S. Sorry if the sound quality of this episode sounds different as I am recording in a totally different environment, but that is another story for another day. =)

  • #68 Stories - The Boiling Pot

One of the reasons why I started my podcast is because I noticed that more and more people in Singapore are getting triggered by simple situations, and are venting their frustrations on one another - usually, on strangers.ย

Listen in to these three incidents (dabao-ing chye perng, scaredy cat, mailing in a post office) I just experienced or heard over this week, and my take on the boiling pot that we are in now.

  • #67 Stories - Tanks for the Memories

I have just completed my last cycle of army reservist training this week, and has officially 'MR-ed'. It's been a long journey - I learnt and experienced many things, and also met many interesting and funny characters along the way.

Just like the 10 ICT cycles needed, I have decided to put up a list of 10 insights/experiences/points to summarise and close this bittersweet chapter. Listen in to points ranging from Enciks to E-mart aunties, and eye-opening medical conditions to killer typo.

P.S. A heartfelt shoutout to every single person I met in this chapter, be it good or bad. You have influenced and shaped me in one way or another. For those who had the feels listening to my hit parody single Tears in Gedong back then, the least I could do is to do it one last time in this episode. ๐Ÿค—

  • #66 Stories - One Night in Jjimjilbang

With all the recent hype about Squid Game and the Vaccinated Travel Lane to South Korea, it reminded me of another eye-opening experience I had during my past trip to the land of K-Drama - a night in a Jjimjilbang.

Listen in to my recount of a memorable Jjimjilbang experience at the Dragon Hill Spa & Resort located in Seoul.

  • #65 Chicken Nuggets - COVID-19 THIS and THAT

I am usually nonsensical for 98% of the time, but for the remaining 2%, I can be very serious and provide nuggets of good life advices + interesting and useful information.

What is the difference between an alligator and a crocodile? How about a tortoise and a turtle? There are words and terms that are close to one another, and is sometimes confusing and hard to explain the differences between THIS and THAT.

In this episode of The SSHM Podcast - Chicken Nuggets series (you can take it as a wack take on Chicken Soup for the Soul), listen in as I share the differences between three COVID-19 related THIS and THAT - Virus vs Bacteria, ART vs PCR, and Hand Sanitiser vs Disinfectant.

Hopefully, these general knowledge could come in handy during your small talks on your work Zoom sessions.

  • #64 Stories - Unhappy Teachers' Day

When we were secondary school students, it was quite common to make our teachers unhappy. This is usually through intentional actions like missing classes, or not doing our homework. However, in the story of my life, I did make some teachers unhappy before, but some were purely unintentional.

Listen in to be the judge for these three stories that resulted in unhappy teachers' day.

  • #63 Stories - Our Korean Hairstylist

People of different ethnicity could have different interpretations of the same words, expressions, or even body language. Sometimes, this leads to misunderstandings.

Meet Jane - our family hairstylist and friend from Korea. Listen in to how our years-long misunderstanding was finally resolved.

Check out my IG @theSSHMpodcast for some throwback visit, and her salon in Korea (virtually for now, of course) - IG @salonbylon

  • #62 Stories - Sushi to Chye Perng

When I was doing my last episode on how kids can be funny and cute, it reminded me of a part-time job that I did many years ago - to teach kids how to bake and make snacks like sushi in enrichment classes.

Listen in to this story of how a sushi class with the kids became a disaster.

  • #61 Stories - Don't Grow Up

For the parents and those who interact with kids on a high frequency, you would agree with me that kids can be many different things at different times. They can be funny, crazy, annoying, cute or innocent, but let's focus on the funny part today.

Listen in to this compilation of funny mini stories of kids.

Stay gold, stay child-like and crazy, and don't grow up.
