Chris & Danielle encourage you to stand strong and stay in the fight. They discuss critical bills coming up for vote in committee tomorrow including 5 bills that attempt to weaken our strong pro-life stance in Louisiana. These need action before NOON TODAY if at all possible. If you miss the deadline, please still make your voice heard before 9am tomorrow.
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY:
9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11 For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. Proverbs 9:9-11
ACTION ITEMS:
Email before NOON on May 9th if possible. If you miss the deadline, still send your emails until 9am tomorrow.
1. HB 372 - Invokes the Louisiana and US Constitutions to declare that the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization have no constitutional authority to dictate public policy in Louisiana. Email [email protected] and urge your representatives to” vote YES on “HB 372, Rep. Edmonston’s Louisiana Sovereignty Bill.”
2. HB 427- Requires health care facilities to publicize on their official websites a list of costs for services it renders to patients. Transparency is needed. The legislation also requires a health care facility to publicize both the maximum and the minimum price that it has negotiated or charged a third party for a service to a patient. The legislation imposes on the Louisiana Department of Health the responsibility of overseeing a health care facility’s compliance with this law.
Email [email protected] and tell them to “vote YES on HB 427, Rep. Crews’ transparency in pricing legislation.”
3. HB 10 - Repeals prior legislation that allowed private corporations to seize private property for carbon capture sequestration and storage. This extremely important legislation explicitly prohibits any private corporation from using the doctrine of eminent domain to take private property to advance President Biden’s Big Green Energy objectives.
Email [email protected] and tell them to “vote YES for “HB 10, Rep. Carter’s private property protection Bill.”
House Bills 346 (Rep. Boyd), 549 (Rep. Glover), 522 (Rep. Freeman), 461 (Rep. Dubuisson), and 598 (Rep. Newell)
4. HB 346 and HB 549 would legalize abortion in Louisiana in cases of rape and incest. HB 549, in a feat of illogic, excludes abortion in cases of rape and incest from the definition of “abortion”.
Pregnancies that result from rape or incest require the greatest sensitivity and compassion to the mothers involved. It also involves compassion and protection for the unborn child. We must assist these mothers, surround them with love, and do everything we can to help them know they are not alone. And we can do this while also protecting the fundamental right to life of the unborn child, who is no less valuable because of the circumstances of his or her conception. Either we believe in the dignity of the unborn, or we do not.
HB 522 excludes the possibility of imprisonment for doctors who perform abortions in violation of law. This legislation makes a mockery of the very reason why abortion is illegal in Louisiana to begin with: because it involves the destruction of an innocent unborn human life. Doctors who defy the law and perform abortion should not be statutorily, and pre-emptively shielded from the possibility of imprisonment, when most misdemeanors in Louisiana provide the possibility of imprisonment in the Court’s discretion.
HB 461 and HB 598 are unnecessary. Doctors have always had the discretion to do whatever is necessary to protect the life and safety of the mother. Bernard Nathanson, MD performed more abortions than any doctor in America, and was the founder of NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) before his conversion to Christianity. Both he and every other doctor who is honest knows they have complete discretion in this area. The only action that is prohibited under the Hypocritic Oath is the direct killing of the unborn, which is never necessary to protect the life or health of the mother. The “life and health of the mother” exception is an insidious lie that has been pushed by pro-abortion groups for 50 years to justify abortion on demand in the United States.
Email [email protected] and tell them to “vote NO on abortion bills HB 346, 549, 522, 461, and 598.”
