The stock market took another pounding Friday after China retaliated with new tariffs on U.S. goods. This move added fuel to growing fears of a trade war that could trigger a global recession.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 1,000 points, falling 2.5%. That’s on top of Thursday’s 1,679-point loss. The S&P 500 also fell 2.8% on Friday, after shedding nearly 5% the day before. The Nasdaq Composite declined 2.9%, following a 6% drop Thursday.
