Today, we’re going to talk about The Black presence in the Bible. The Bible is a multicultural book detailing and blending history from the beginning of time. Stating the Bible is multicultural may sound controversial but archeology, history and Scriptures prove it to be true.
Race and Scriptures is a sensitive subject and sometimes difficult for many to digest, yet Sunday is the most segregated day of the week because whites, blacks, Hispanics and Asians tend to worship with their own kind, then even at death we have separate cemeteries. Do you remember the controversy in 2013 when viewers were upset over the Bible miniseries because Samson was played by a black man? Many believe all the prophets, saints and Jesus himself were white even though historically many were people of color.
One of the effects of racism is the whitewashing of history and sadly this has taken place even in the Bible. The main reason for Pastor and I studying the black presence in the Bible is because if we can't accept that our Bible is a multicultural book, how can we accept multicultural churches?
