Will sits a Kym's bedside devotedly, waiting for her to wake up. We learn the fate of other characters (please live, Albion, please!!), and Will manages to simultaneously think of Kym as the girl he wants to marry and yet deny it.  

Perceptive Darcy comes for a visit, dressed to the nines, reminding Will of the soiree he is excited to miss. We discuss the suspiciousness of the mysterious brown satchel.  

At the soiree, Darcy has implanted a listening device in the room with the meeting between Redcliff and other men.   

A show is staged, and Bella/Hestia appears in her magnificence, with Darcy watching attentively. Their eyes catch, and Bella stumbles.  

The self-satisfied Redcliff utters, "Caught ya, Bella."

This one broke our hearts, folks.  Lauren finishes stitching Kieran up, sitting comfortably on his bed. She places her hand on his shoulder scar (!), asking him its origins. She hesitates and pulls her hand back, but Kieran grabs her hand and returns it to its place on his shoulder.  

We now see a painful flashback. Youthful Kieran and the protectee are in a prison cell, and Apostle X brands him.  Some time later, a hooded Kieran and protectee sit in a cell, tied to a pole. They've killed the Tenth and nearly escaped. Someone who seems to be the leader is shocked, but agrees with the 4th that they cannot be let go.   

The 4th wants to train him as a spy, and gives Kieran an impossible choice: work for them, or his friend is killed. Kieran, unflinchingly, cuts out his own branding while agreeing to work for A4, shocking the blue-eyed person.   

We speculate as to A4's identity.  

Kieran nearly tells Lauren more, but then replies briefly and ends the conversation.   

Later, at his apartment, Kieran questions why he keeps Lauren close, knowing how risky it is. He is obtuse as to what love is.   

He thinks of how Lauren saved him, feeling undeserving, and then thinks to the hypnotized Lauren, the first night they met, and the kidnapped children. He then looks at the portrait and we speculate about the connection.   

Overcome, he nearly cries, and grabs the portrait, but can't bring himself to smash it. He sits down with it and resolves to keep Lauren safe.

Kieran and Lauren sit in Kieran's cave, gazing at the romantic water and discussing their latest discovery about Rafael and Redcliffe.  Kieran's theory about the poison aligns with our resident medical expert Lily's.  

While reaching to give Lauren a hug (!), Kieran rips his stitches, and unself-consciously proceeds to, er, rip his shirt off, giving us all a great view.  

Lauren, unlike us thirsty fans, focuses on his scars, and feels comfortable enough to ask him about them.  Kieran hesitates, but shockingly, tells her that when he was mistakenly kidnapped into the Phantom Scythe, he was not very obedient. We speculate on the kidnapping's timing and intended target.  

Kieran is bitter about his choice to stay and bring the Phantom Scythe down from within, but Lauren moves closer to affirm his choice, and also to, in what we speculate has a double meaning, "help him."

We gush over Lauren and Kieran's growing closeness as expressed in their physical connections. Luka lightens the mood with his sour humor.  

Meanwhile, Hermann is distressed at the number of people falling ill. March uses it as an opportunity to put Lauren on the case with him. Kind or sus? Who knows.  

Turns out the APD and theater cast are not the only ones falling ill. Bella, Darcy and her maid are all stricken, ruling out one of our main suspects.  

Now the question remains: Whodunnit and why?

Kym and Lauren sit outside the Allendale Train Station and talk about the Snapdragon. We see a flashback to when Tristan and Dakan spoke with Lauren after the accident.

We learn of the oppression of the previous monarch, and the betrayal of the Snapdragon by an anonymous member.

We discuss the mysterious lack of burning of the willow planted by Mr. Rosenthal.

We learn a bit more about Daena's death, and then Kym opens up to Lauren about how she felt at the factory.

We infer that Kym doesn't believe Lauren's partner is dead. She wants to help Lauren with Lune's investigation, but Lauren doesn't want to tell her anything.

After the hug, Kym stiffens, coughs, and collapses.

We tried to discuss this episode pretty thoroughly and sensitively. There is a lot to talk about and tease out!  

Charles visits Sam's apartment, once again facing hesitation at the door. Sam has left the door unlocked for him, and asks him about his business clothes. He tells her he has been on video conferences all day - we speculate on that.  

Charles has one thing on his mind, but Sam only wants to cuddle. We discuss their behavior at length.  

While Sam is sleeping peacefully, Charles hears her phone, of which he previously was suspicious, vibrate. He sees a text from Marshall and turns jealous, only to discover that Sam has awoken and wants to know what he is doing with her phone.
