It is strange to think that there are now at least 4,719 confirmed exoplanets orbiting 3,490 star systems in the universe, but up until 1995 we didn't even know they existed. It is thought that there are billions if not trillions of exoplanets in our galaxy alone that are still waiting to be discovered. But of the ones that have been identified all manner of weird and wonderful things have been observed and although some exoplanets are thought to have the potential to host life, others are the stuff of nightmares!
