Sharon Chisholm is an award winning coach, writer, speaker and passionate mental health advocate.

In 2015 she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and anxiety, having been treated incorrectly for clinical depression for 12 years.

Sharon’s coaching journey began in 2009, but due to her undiagnosed bipolar disorder, she became too ill to continue her business. Late in 2014, Sharon felt able to return to coaching and her challenges have led her to work with people around the world who are struggling with the day to day challenges of living with mental illness. She has a particular interest in supporting those who run a small business whilst also managing mental health issues.

She writes for an online bipolar magazine (BP Magazine for Bipolar) and other online small business forums including Flying Solo and Smallville. She regularly speaks about her experiences of living and working with a mental illness and belongs to a number of focus groups dealing with mental health in the workplace.

Today's interview is with Sculptor, Annie Jeffery.

Annie's work has been exhibited in galleries in the UK and France and is in private collections. The first in a series of pieces called ‘Female Landscape’, carved in French Limestone, won the Sir Robert Marshall Prize in the Bridport Open Art Exhibition in 2003. The latest in the series is currently being shown in the Sculpture Garden at The Mill at Gordleton.

She is a former chairman of a Riding for the Disabled Group, has been a Trustee of The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy and of a Spina Bifida support group, and a volunteer ambassador for the Honeypot Children’s charity for several years.

Having seen how the power of art can change people’s lives for good, Annie is now putting her work as a sculptor on hold to devote her energies and experience in fundraising to creating a new charity, hArt - Hampshire Art for Recreation and Therapy, and building it for the future. Less than a year from becoming a registered charity, hArt has already delivered a number of projects working with adults and children.

Like most people, the industries I work in happened by accident. I’ve always found myself in the ‘difficult-to-market’ industries including high-tech, software, engineering, manufacturing and business services. I thoroughly enjoy the challenges and craziness of these industries. 

I’m a believer in client relationships and B2Human marketing. That’s why I recently created a marketing model called Current Client Optimisation (CCO) which focuses on the relationship between Sales, Marketing and Client. My special mad skill is dumbing stuff down. Anne is a successful McDonald’s franchisee operating four flagship restaurants across Leeds and Wakefield in West Yorkshire and is soon to expand taking on a fifth restaurant, on the outskirts of Leeds. She had a long-held ambition to own her own business and joined McDonald’s seven years ago, having previously spent 20 years working her way to senior management with a major blue-chip IT company.  The diverse role as a McDonald’s franchisee is one that Anne thoroughly enjoys, from helping to develop her growing team of over 400 people; supporting the local communities in which she operates; through to working as a franchisee representative with the McDonald’s executive team to shape future business decisions.
