Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the biggest (vendor-related) decisions you’ll make while planning your wedding. I really want to emphasize that it's about so much more than liking someone’s editing style. It’s about trust, communication, backup plans, and how you’ll actually feel with them by your side on your wedding day.
In this episode of The Sundae Best, I walk through the most important questions to ask when interviewing your potential wedding photographer(s). I also share my own answers so you can hear exactly how I approach things like photo timelines, image security, backup gear, planning engagement sessions, and transparency through the entire process.
Whether you’re newly engaged or in the final stages of wedding planning, this episode will help you ask the right questions so you can hire your wedding photographer with full confidence in both their work and their process.
If you found this helpful, please share it with a friend who’s searching for their wedding photographer so they can find the very best fit for them! If you're interested in working together, head to mrsferreephotography.com to officially inquire!
You had the perfect consultation call—now what? In the final part of this three-part Contact to Contract Series, wedding planner Jillian Pohlman of Jillian Marie Events walks us through everything that happens after the consultation: how to follow up without being pushy, when to send the contract, how to communicate payment schedules, and what to do once someone actually books. This is where many wedding professionals lose momentum or accidentally create friction that causes couples to choose someone else. Jillian breaks down exactly how to keep the process moving forward while making it easy and pressure-free for couples.
Whether you're a photographer, planner, florist, DJ, or any other wedding professional, this episode will help you confidently move from "great consultation" to "signed contract and paid deposit." Learn why you should follow up only once, why contract expiration dates might be hurting you, why final payment should never be due on the wedding day, and how to guide new clients through next steps without overwhelming them. Remember: if they're going to book, they're going to book—your job is just to make it easy.

Ever wondered what the heck you should say on a consultation call with a potential client? It's a great question and in this episode, Jillian Marie Events is giving us the full inside scoop on how wedding vendors should run a consultation call from start to finish. Tune in to find out what questions to ask on the consultation call, how you should share pricing with potential clients, and how to wrap up the call all without making it weird or putting unnecessary pressure on them.
P.s. Be sure to go back and listen to part 1 before digging into part 2!
Are you losing dream clients before you can even get on a call with them? In this episode, Colorado & destination wedding planner Jillian Pohlman of Jillian Marie Events breaks down exactly what's working (and what's NOT) in the contact-to-contract process for wedding professionals in all categories.
As a planner, Jillian has a unique perspective—she sees both sides of the vendor-client relationship and gets real-time feedback from couples about who they're booking and why. In Part 1 of this three-part series, we're diving deep into contact forms and our initial response to new inquiries.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Whether you're a photographer, planner, florist, DJ, caterer, or any other wedding pro, this conversation applies to you. Jillian's approach is all about being human, responding in a timely manner, and making the booking process easy for couples, rather than overwhelming them with too much information before you've even had a conversation to understand what they need.

In this episode, I'm sharing my real, vulnerable story behind why I became a photographer and why I continue to be one. I'm sharing what motivates me in life and in business—from my faith to my family, friends, clients, pets, community, and health. My why behind being a photographer is so much deeper than because I love taking photos. While creating art is absolutely one of my favorite things to do... my career is how I get to utilize the gifts God gave me, serve others wholeheartedly, provide for my family, live with purpose & intention, and take care of myself so I can show up fully in everything I do.
If you're considering hiring me as your wedding photographer, just know that this is my heart as your photographer and always will be. You can follow my photography page on IG at @mrs.ferreephotography and inquire to work together at www.mrsferreephotography.com!
If you're another vendor, I hope this episode inspires you to dig deep into your why and then share it with the world! I'd absolutely love to hear your story. DM on IG at @the.sundae.best to connect!
In this episode, I refer to a part of my health journey where I decided to dig deeper and I recently did a whole episode just on this. Here it is on Apple Podcasts and Spotify if you want to tune in!
My husband and I took a 4 day trip to the Grand Tetons and I didn't take my iPhone! It was the most freeing unplugged experience ever and I'm sharing all about it in this episode. From some of our favorite spots in Jackson to explaining the tug on my heart to be more connected with the world and less with screens... there's something here for you. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by your phone, notifications, and feel like you simply can't get away from the noise of the world, this is my love letter (more like my battle cry) to just freaking do it. Life is too short to miss out on the irreplaceable moments with your loved ones and unmistakable beauty God created.
If you have any unplugged stories or tips, send me a DM on Instagram at @the.sundae.best. I'd love to connect!

In this episode, I'm quickly sharing what my new Oh Fudge! Series is and how you can be a part of it! Tune in to learn how to submit your stories and my heart behind starting this series on The Sundae Best.
I’m taking you behind the scenes of my own wedding planning process & day—what went beautifully, what I’d do differently, and the lessons I learned that might help you, too. From being late to our own ceremony, to wishing we’d booked day-after portraits, to balancing an intimate guest list with the celebration we really wanted—this episode is part reflection, part advice. Think of it as a voice memo from a friend who’s been there, sharing the honest wins and some regrets to consider in your own wedding planning journey.
At the end of the day, no matter what your wedding day looks like, it'll be beautiful because it's yours. Even though some moments were disappointing on my wedding day, it was still the best day of my life because I got to marry my best friend. The best part? Those disappointing moments have not once affected our marriage. I hope your wedding day is the best day of your lives, but even more so... I hope every day after is even better. Marriage rocks!

Yes, I've had to say this to a doctor before. If you've ever been to the doctor for fatigue, were denied testing, and instead offered birth control... you aren't alone. In this episode, I'm sharing my 2 most recent experiences that pushed me to start seeing a naturopath to get to the root of my health. I am so grateful for the many amazing doctors out there who listen to us, are curious alongside us, deeply care, and educate us. This episode is just my personal experience and never medical advice.
If you're experiencing health issues, I want to encourage you to get curious. Ask why. Push for answers. And don't give up. You are worth fighting for and you are not crazy.
Has anyone else noticed how many guests are wearing white at weddings this year? Well, we have. So naturally, we took it to the internet and asked our audiences what their thoughts are on this matter! In this episode, my bestie Tyler Wright and I are sharing our own observations as wedding photographers and reading all of your comments/feedback you submitted to us before we recorded! If you've been married, are getting married, or are attending a wedding soon... this is for you. Feel free to DM me at @the.sundae.best on IG with any other thoughts we didn't cover!
Enjoy the show and ... don't wear white to a wedding, friends!
