Well listeners, in a down turn of fishing news from the high of the September LFTL episode, Jerry and Toby discuss what ended up being yet another difficult month- both because of the poor state of the fishery, but also simply because "life" got in the way. HOWEVER, there still was some things to learn, and some bright spots, and the guys still have a lot to say about one of the traditionally great months of fall striper fishing. Tune in to hear what they learned, and how it might help you going forward.

In this week's episode of The Surfcast Podcast, we are joined by surf fishing legend and icon, Dennis "DZ" Zambrotta. While Dennis is most famously known for the needlefish and fishing on Block Island in the 1980s, he is well-versed in a variety of tactics for targeting cow-sized striped bass in the surf, and this time around he divulges some of the secrets that he learned about fishing with the Cotton Cordell Red Fin. From how he first heard about it, to finding a magic "toxic plug" washed up on the shores of Block Island, he recounts stories from his years in the surf centered around the Red Fin and why it has been a staple in his surf bag for nearly 40 years!

In this week's episode, Jerry and Toby dive into their thought process of fishing a spot on consecutive nights. They address factors such as success (or lack thereof), seasonality, conditions, knowledge of the spot, and more. Patterning of the surf is a big part of the success for both anglers, so how they work through this concept is something that they both put a lot of thought and consideration into throughout a surf fishing season.

In this episode of the podcast, Jerry and Toby discuss the topic of post-storm fishing, and why it's been so productive for them in the past. This is based on some storm fishing they had fished through recently, and is part of a regularly occurring segment, where they do a "hot take" on an event or incident that JUST happened. In full transparency, this event was back in May, but they have had so many episodes pop-up or "on the docket" it's only getting released now, in September. However, it's timely, as this is the season of the storm!
