The rules are simple: each angler can choose only four plugs, and specific lures must be identified where applicable by brand, size, and weight. Conditions and time of day cannot factor into the selections, color is not required, there is an infinite supply of lures (magically replaced if lost), and bait doesn't count.

You make your own luck every time you enter the surf. However, in the end, we simply cannot calculate every factor that goes into catching fish- otherwise, we'd catch only 40- to 80-pound bass every time we went fishing. This week, the guys sit down with Calvin Toran-Sandlin to discuss one of the most extreme subcultures of surfcasting. While many anglers don a wetsuit in pursuit of striped bass, very few take it to the next level by strapping on fins and swimming—sometimes several hundred yards—out into the surf at night to fish isolated reefs and rockpiles. But that's exactly what Calvin does!

In addition to discussing the gear, conditions, and techniques that make this style of fishing possible, the guys explore how Calvin's extreme dedication gives him an advantage over his fellow surfcasters. Of course, there's also the giant elephant in the room: SHARKS! From great whites to brown sharks, Calvin shares some of his encounters with these apex predators and explains how he deals with them, both mentally and physically.
