Last week Thursday Nelson Chamisa who is leader of the Citizens for Coalition Change decided to quit the opposition party with immediate effect. He said that Zimbabwe is facing a hostile political environment and that majority of people are leaving the country. Since late last week, the media has been abuzz with reports of petrol stations selling contaminated diesel. This follows an investigation by Energy Department which found  that 70 filling stations across the country were selling contaminated diesel which they mixed with illuminating paraffin. Sadly though is that so many cars are probably damaged costing millions of rands to those who may have fallen victim to the scam.

In an effort to curb youth unemployment, yesterday (Wed) Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi called on employers to register their vacancies and training opportunities on the department’s website. Addressing a  two-day Jobs Fair in Botshabelo, the Minister went on to say that they are willing and ready to assist employers for free to avoid costs charged by labour brokers. As good as it sounds, what about issues of access to data seeing how many people are unemployed? How practical is this under the current state of economy? Yesterday (Tuesday) Minister of Higher Education and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande called on institutions of higher learning to allow students funded by NSFAS with outstanding payments to register. Dr Nzimande was speaking during a press briefing around the readiness of the scheme for the 2024 intake. As you’ve heard in the news since last year how more than 20 thousand students did not receive their allowances for 2023 and the frustration they had to go. 

NSFAS representatives have been on the show a couple of times assuring us that they are dealing with the issue.
