Rose's cousin is coming to town for a few days before he goes to St. Olaf to meet the bride that has been arranged for him. The guy Blanche is dating, or trying to date, keeps cancelling on her and hurting her feelings. Sophia wants to get a drivers license again because not having a current one makes her field old. But Blanche takes Sven out on the town and kisses him to make the other man jealous. It works but causes another problem. Sven falls for Blanche. Does Blanche fix the Sven problem? The girls decide to go into politics. They support and help campaign for Gil Kessler for City Council. Trouble arises when Blanche is accused of having an affair with him. She denies the affair. Rose is worried about nuclear war because members of her Sunshine Cadet's group is. She decides to write a letter to Gorbachev and Presiden Reagan. She gets a response back from the Russian Premier but not Reagan. She gets a press conference and an offer of a trip to Moscow. But it all unravels when they learn that the Russian's think Rose is only 9 years old. While Sophia is away at her granddaughter's wedding (Phil's daughter not Dorothy's) the girls decide to hire a housekeeper. During her first week they have all kinds of good things happen. Blanche gets a love potion from her during the interview. They attribute all these good things to Margareet. They elevate her in their minds to that of a good witch or a good luck charm. However, Dorothy thinks her cleaning skills are horrible and insists on firing her. Upset at being fired, Margareet tells them they'll regret it. The week after so many bad things happen that they think Margareet cursed them. They are so afraid they think hiring her back will reverse the curse. Sophia comes home in time to sort it all out. Rose is left a baby. The girls decide to raise it together. It turns out to be a pig named Baby. She is also left $100,000 to take care of the pig until it passes. Rose is overjoyed but the girls only get on board when she offers to split the money. As always Rose puts the welfare of the animal first and ultimately sends it back to the farm because it is home sick. I recorded this episode on 12/31/2021. Betty White also passed today. This is more a tribute to her and what an amazing person she is. This episode she played Rose as herself in regards to the animals health and well being. Betty White was an amazing advocate for animals and humans in marginalized communities. She loved humans and animals the same. She was an excellent human being and role model. Earth has lost a wonderful person but heaven has gained an amazing angel. The Golden Girls are once again united. Rest in peace, Betty White Ludden.
