In this episode we chat with Alyssa from Luna Holistic Birth. She shares her initiation into motherhood, her three births, and how these experiences support her work in holistic birth preparation for women all over the globe.

Alyssa is a a holistic birthkeeper, breastfeeding counsellor, and mother of 2. She lives near the beautiful Fundy Coast in New Brunswick, where she spends her days homeschooling my daughters, connecting with nature, and supporting pregnant, birthing & breastfeeding women from near & far. 

She got into this work shortly after the redemptive freebirth of her youngest daughter 2 ½ years ago, when she felt the calling to support other women who wanted to reclaim their autonomy in pregnancy and birth. She immersed myself in a holistic doula & birthkeeper training program followed by a peer lactation counselling program & a placenta preparation course which she plugged away at during naptime and after her children went to bed.
We talk about her initiation into motherhood and how that included a loss at 19 weeks, dismissive reassurance from the medical system, the cold experiences of the hospital, the reclamation of birth, and the power of the moon. We also talk deeply about woman’s intuition, TRUE woman centred care, and the beauty of sisterhood through this work.
