This is the final of a three part series, Colorado "OH WOW!!"
In this episode, we discuss many things, including Marmot's and Skypilot's ... finally! What do we think is the best tea EVER? Hear Sandy's AMAZING Turkey call. AND we experience for the first time Garden Of The Gods, Pikes Peak and the Ridge Trail Road.
Garden Of The Gods -
This is a registered National Natural Landmark that contains 300 foot rock formations. Garden of the Gods is the top geological wonder in Colorado with incredible rock formations and an activity playground that lets people hike, bike, horseback ride and explore this free attraction in Colorado Springs.
Pikes Peak - Is the second most-visited mountains on the planet,
The safe and scenic Pikes Peak Highway provides you the opportunity to enjoy 19 miles of mountain terrain, with frequent pull-offs for you to get out, stretch your legs and explore all that America’s Mountain has to offer. You’ll be treated to breathtaking views, four different Colorado life zones and unique animal sightings, like the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, yellow-bellied marmots and (rumored) Big Foot.
From the summit’s various viewing areas, you’ll absolutely want to snap photos of Pikes Peak’s incredible scenery. On the clearest days, you can see five states (Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Kansas) and even the curvature of the earth fading into the distance. Ridge Trail Road - Covering the 48 miles between Estes Park on the park's east side and Grand Lake on the west, Trail Ridge Road more than lives up to its advanced billing. Eleven miles of this high highway travel above treeline, the elevation near 11,500 feet where the park's evergreen forests come to a halt. As it winds across the tundra's vastness to its high point at 12,183 feet elevation, Trail Ridge Road (U.S. 34) offers visitors thrilling views, wildlife sightings and spectacular alpine wildflower exhibitions, all from the comfort of their car.
