Basketballer and now mother, Emma Stuart (nee Emma Langford), is our special guest. Originally from Arthurton on the Yorke Peninsula, Emma's sport has seen her travel the world. These days she lives in Port Hughes and is happily married to Wade with a young daughter and a second child on the way. In this podcast, Emma talks about her love for basketball and motherhood. A fantastic opportunity a hear from a successful athlete about life and sport.    

The State Government’s STARCLUB Program on the Yorke Peninsula takes in three councils. They are the Copper Coast, the Yorke Peninsula and Barunga West Councils. In this podcast, we talk with the three CEOs in Russell Peate, Andrew Cameron and Maree Wauchope. This podcast has been designed as a low key chat with each Chief Executive Officer, nothing controversial. This is a chance to meet them and learn more about them.  

Brett Hidson from Tennis SA explains life as we find it today. Many rules are relaxed for tennis players but there are strict regulations still in play. We look at tennis as an alternative for the sport's lover and the effect of COVID-19 on the sport. Tennis around the Yorke Peninsula and more.   

Mental Health. Our guest is a corporate executive with the ANZ in Kadina. Amanda Schultz has coached sports teams, has been a policewoman, an author and gives 100% to everything she does. Her main social interest, apart from sport, is Men’s Mental Health. Amanda wrote a book about her father’s suicide, titled WHIT with journalist Greg Mayfield. Men’s mental health is a major subject we have to deal with but as men, we tend to hide from it and not discuss it. Amanda’s sporting love is basketball despite having a hand in other sports as well.

There is a very slight glimmer of hope that netball might be played in some form on the Yorke Peninsula in 2020. But it's very slight, so don't hold your breath. The Secretary of the Yorke Peninsula Netball Association, Prue Hicks, is our guest on this episode of The Thing About Sport podcast. Prue is an outstanding netballer but how does she handle being a veterinarian and an administrator of the sport she adores.  

Dean Flowers is the go-to man at the Kadina Football Club. We like to consider Dean as the wheeler and dealer of the footy club. He's Kadina FC's Secretary. He and his wife Di have three boys, one is the coach of the senior side. Dean's football journey started as a player with Snowtown before heading to Kadina.   

Al Tod is the President of the Port Broughton Combined Sporting Club. This is the way country clubs seem to be heading. One venue one overarching body running the show. In this case, the sporting clubs seem to have fallen into line, not through design but accidentally you would suggest. A combined sporting hub seems to be the right foot forward in this day and age.     

John Cranwell is the CEO of Inclusive Sport SA. The body is about creating a culture of sport and recreation for all. Irrespective of our make up we all deserve a slice of the action. It's about including everyone.  

The best way to describe this podcast is to say Jane Gersch is a fighter and doesn't give up. This is a lesson for us all listening to Jane's fight against the odds. A woman with an acquired brain injury, Jane's a credit to herself. She loves sport and sport has given her so much.
