In this episode, I’m diving into why flexibility is the key to weight loss success, especially for professional women balancing a busy career and personal life. As someone who’s constantly juggling different responsibilities, I know how easy it is to feel like you need to stick to a rigid plan to see results. But life doesn’t always play by our rules, and that's where the problem starts.
I take you back to a lesson I learned early on in my career, when our CEO shared a piece of advice that stuck with me: "Be a palm tree, not an oak." At first, I didn’t get it, but over time, I realized just how much this applied to weight loss and the way we approach our goals.
Most of us, as high achievers, like to do things "right," and that mindset can make us rigid in our approach to dieting and fitness. We create a plan that we think we must follow at all costs, only to find that when life throws us a curveball—whether it’s a client lunch or a busy week—we fall off track and feel like we’ve failed.
But the truth is, we need to be more like the palm tree. Instead of sticking to an inflexible plan, we need to bend and adapt. A flexible approach might mean having a few higher calorie days in the week or adjusting our step goals to average over the week. It’s about setting a routine that works for the real, unpredictable parts of life and embracing flexibility without guilt.
So, I challenge you to think about your approach to weight loss: are you being an oak or a palm tree right now? Flexibility could be the game-changer that helps you stay consistent and move forward with your goals, no matter what life throws your way.
