Alex Warr is the lead designer for the structures at The Tree Farm- a private course in development in New Holland, South Carolina. New Holland is just outside of Aiken neighboring Palmetto GC, Aiken GC, the recently finished Chalkmine short course, and also in-process Old Barnwell.

We discuss:
- The pitch to Zac Blair almost 5 years ago in San Antonio
- The intricacies of construction in both the golf and the clubhouse
- The philosophies and architects that have impacted Alex's career
- Why many architects aren't interested or in favor of golf
- Designing environments that many people will experience

A third generation golfer and born in England, Joe grew up playing with his Dad at Hoylake Golf Club. After developing music and playing in a band that toured throughout Europe (stories included), he took skills used in production to start building software at Monterosa for simultaneous interaction for things like sporting events and live shows.

We discuss IMG's work in Tennis, which transfers live, low latency data, to receive highly accurate updates of what's happening in real time. Joe has been working on applying the same principles to professional golf. The challenge? Tennis is played in fixed dimensions, and golf is the Wild West.

Among others, we also get into some golf history, as Joe explores his findings through the 3D modeling done by his team which includes Sam Cooper (now a member of Clayton DeVries & Pont), and Evalu18 (a group that evaluates great UK and Irish golf from a golf course architecture and historical perspective).

And when I asked Joe prior to an interview about what his focus was, he replied:

"..... I just want to make.... remarkable....stuff"

And that's someone worth chasing after.
