Many of you deep in the golf world have heard of Quinn Thompson- some of you have never heard of him at all. Whether one or the other, you probably don't know a lot about the man. 

Quinn is a Chicago kid, who found the game by sneaking onto courses near home and hitting golf balls with his friends on the way to school. 

After finding an ad in the paper while at URI, he stumbled upon a grow-in job where he met Jeff Bradley, widely regarded as the bunker guru. Quinn made a good impression, and the rest is history. 

Today, Quinn leads his own projects throughout Japan, and consults some in England, building artistic bunkers everywhere he goes. As you'll learn, he's one of a kind- a savant in regard to his passions- and widely talented. 

Hope you enjoy this interview today with a man who adds so much flare to our game. His work is as important as any great artist, who keep us sane, and remind us that there is far more than function and engineering.

This episode with Mitch, we get a tasting platter of the whole lot. A cornucopia of golf related chatter.

Megan is golf obsessed just like the rest of us, except she decided to truly make it a focal point in her life. Megan bought a 22 foot school bus and has converted it into a home on wheels to travel the country while working remotely and seeing as many great courses as she can along the way. That is true dedication to the game. Megan and I talk about her start in the game, what inspired her to buy a bus to live in and play golf, the origins of the name "caddy" for her school bus, what she has planned for the next stretch and much more. Bold, brash, long, hard, shotmaking, bogies, doubles, triples, all of these words come to mind when I think of QHC and Sawgrass. These are PGATour ballparks and while they are great golf courses all the while, they are made to test the worlds best, rather than appeal to the average 10 handicapper. Fun to play, but even more fun to watch those who play the game much better than we do, Walker and I attempt to tease out both the architectural merits of these golf holes as well as the merits of competition, and theatrics as thats what these course were built for.

As per usual on House Theory Thursday we are here to have a fun format of matching up hole 1 v hole 1, hole 2 v hole 2, and so on for these 2 two courses and not necessarily make conjecture on the "better" golf course, but simply which one wins the match. Enjoy!

Both beautiful. Both necessary. So very different in their own special ways.

Golf is an individual sport, but it doesn't mean it is meant to be played alone, at least not all the time. While many rounds are made so much more enjoyable by the people you play them with, it doesn't  mean there isn't a place in the world-especially for the competitors out there-to saddle up for a round here or there with nothing but your sticks, the course, and your own company. If you haven't tried this before, give it a go. Talk about therapy.
