Recently, a friend of mine, who is a professional boxer, talked with me about the overwhelming desire he has in the lead up to his fights to "find a way to get our of fighting." Even though he loves it, even though he has 10 years of experience, and it's more comfortable than most in situations like that, he told me about some of the thoughts that run through his mind in the lead up to a fight! And it made me realize, that, although you may love doing something, although you may know that doing that thing will help you, your brain will always think up scenarios and explanations as to why you "don't need to do that." It's too cold, you're not good enough, it'll hurt, you don't have the equipment, all of these excuses are just ways your mind is trying to keep you away from the thing that is uncomfortable. When in reality, you should chase the things that make you uncomfortable, because it's in being uncomfortable, that you'll experience the most growth!
