21-year-old Elisa Lam wanted to get out of her bubble in Vancouver, Canada to explore the world. She started her journey traveling through California and in late January of 2013 she checked into the infamous Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. When she didn't call home to check in with her parents one day, they contacted LAPD.
