On June 5th at 8AM mountain time, I started my first 100 mile ultramarathon attempt at Mace's Hideout 100. The course featured 22,500 feet of climbing, roughly 50 creek crossings, elevation over 11,000 feet, snow drifts, and temperatures that reached the high 80's. After 57 miles and 14 hours, I officially dropped out. In this episode I talk openly about my experience, the lessons learned, and what I could have done better/differently. Mental health is something that we don't talk enough about in our society. We all have mental health and something that is true in the ultra world as it is with mental health is that, whether things are going really well, or you're in a really low spot, it won't stay that way. I have been dealing with some mental health challenges over the last few months and that was a major contributing factor to why I dropped out. I am disappointed but determined to learn from this experience and move forward. Learning from this DNF will allow me to become a better person, athlete and coach.
