  • Congress, Kanye ‘Ye’ West, and new age conspiracies
On this episode Ari, Caroline, and Lusi are joined by guest co host Mariana Bosquet as we talk midterms, new anti trans legislation, and Ye formally known as Kanye West.
On today’s episode we ask what’s wrong with Ye, will republicans take the congress, if so, what does that mean for our community, and does new age spirituality ultimately lead to antisemitism?
“Even in the face of this physical danger, hatred and discrimination, transgender Americans live courageously and overcome unjust barriers
in all corners of our country. But until we as a country collectively address and dismantle these barriers, transgender people will continue to face higher rates of discrimination, poverty, homelessness and violence.”

“It is time for us to seek real therapy and not regurgitated spiritual advice from these so-called “gurus” and workshop leaders who have not yet faced their own shadows. There is nowhere for us to transcend to right now. If there was, we wouldn’t be here at this moment.”

  • Athena Promachus : Studies, surveys, and garbage data

On this episode Caroline, and Lusi are joined by Athena Promachus and Mia Kaminsky exploring how research can be used as tool in legislation and policy, what research bias is, and what’s next for the Supreme Court. On today’s episode we ask what research bias is, the tools used in creating legislation, and policy, and we look at one survey that reaches the Supreme Court, and the bias and intent to led it there, what’s next for the Supreme Court. “In democracies, a majority of the people determines policy either by directly voting on issues or indirectly by choosing their representatives. Democratic mechanisms serve to limit the divergence between the actions of political officials and the preferences of the people. Yet these mechanisms come at a cost. Democracies are limited in providing durable policies, because today's voters cannot bind future ones, and secondly, because in many circumstances, no policy commands a majority against all other possible proposals. In principle, a majority can change public policies, and has an incentive to do so if it faces time-inconsistent constraints.”

  • Makoto Suzuki : Intersex representation, identity, and visibility

On this episode Caroline, and Lusi are joined by Brook Earhart as they sit and talk with Ato Suzuki talking gender identity, intersex, and lgbtqia representation in the media. On todays episode we talk gender identity, sexuality, and lgbtqia representation with Ato Suzuk. Despite the fact that almost 1 in 8 young people identify as transgender or gender non-conforming, it is still a marginalizing experience for young people. The peer culture can be brutal for trans youth. Research with trans teens finds that 90% have been called a derogatory name during the past year, 50% have been physically harassed, and 25% have been physically assaulted because of their gender identityRepresentation for the lgbtqia community has decreased rates of suicide, anxiety, depression, and violence against lgbtqia people. We must stand up, speak, and ensure that all voices are heard, normalizing gender identity, educating, and giving marginalized people a platform to be seen and heard will begin to affect real change. ⸻

  • Colonialism, transphobia, and J.K Rowling

On this episode Ari, Caroline and Lusi talk the death of a British monarch, colonialism, transphobia and our contributing co host Cynthia Grace joins us to speak on the new works of J.K Rowling. On todays episode we ask if the Queen of England Elizabeth Mary is a war criminal, what colonization is, what transphobia is, and why J.K Rowling and her work is dangerous. The truth is, someone died, and do we respect the dead who have done deeds unforgivable? No, we speak the truth no matter how awful and uncomfortable it is to hear. The Queen of England is a symbol of decorum and stability in the post-World War II world. But to people of places that Britain invaded, carved up and colonized over centuries, the 96-year-old grandmother — and the rest of the royal family — evoke complex feelings, to say the least. We seize an opportunity and we speak. With works like j.k Rowling being sold worldwide we who are oppressed and marginalized must speak up, and so we do, we no remorse for our lives are at stake, and with “comedians” left and right invalidating the trans community, we call them out. trans·pho·bic/ˌtranzˈfōbik/Learn to pronounceadjective1. having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against transgender or intersex people. ⸻

  • Creativity, innovation, and change

On this episode Caroline, and Lusi are joined by contributing co host Cynthia as they explore creativity, innovation, and change. On todays episode we ask if capitalism kills creativity? Why race still plays a major role in the medical field. We continue our conversation on the oppression from the alt right and how that holds us back. We also spent time talking a bit Star Wars. In a galaxy far far away a place where anything can come to fruition, dreams never die, hopes never dashed, and possibilities endless. The saga of the imagination continues to push the human forward, in this place, anything is possible. With human ingenuity, strength, and this unfathomable arrogance, are capable of greatness. As near midterms it’s vitally important you register to vote, and make your voice heard; becoming educated in local government can prevent politicians who don’t represent the common interest of the community from making into congress and or the executive branch. Standing up, using our voice, taking action against the oppression, raising awareness of corporate greed, and pollution are certainly many of the ways we can begin affecting real change. ⸻
