We all want to be comfortable.
That's the human way.
And I'm here for that!
Rest, relaxation, and pleasure are all necessary parts of the human experience. But if you're seeking comfort to escape feeling your feelings, maybe there's a problem.
You're falling beyond the realm of comfortable towards being comfortably numb, the state where you do whatever you need to do to numb the pain and avoid your feelings.
Maybe it manifests in drinking a bottle of wine after a hard day at the office. Or maybe you mindlessly binge-watch Netflix while shovelling junk food in your mouth.
It's not the action that's the problem; it's the reason you're doing it. Because if you don't allow yourself to feel, you'll never heal.

I'll be happy when...
I'll live lit when...
My life will be awesome when...
How often have you said something like this to yourself? Or working towards achieving a big goal in the hope that it would solve all your problems and make you happy?
Then you've got the thing, reached the destination., and achieved the goal. But you don't feel the way you thought you would. Maybe you get that initial burst of excitement but quickly feel empty.
This is common. And it happens because you're waiting for life to start rather than living it now.
In this episode, I explain why goals are cool, but you shouldn't rely on them to give you what you want, and you shouldn't wait until you achieve them to start living life lit!

This week I talk about money.
We're not supposed to talk about money. Some say it's vulgar to do so.
Certain employers are known to have clauses in employment contracts that prevent you from discussing money. And we wonder why pay disparity still prevails.
The great thing about having a podcast is that I don't have to follow conventions. I can and do, say what the fuck I like.
It's important to discuss money. Not in terms of how much you have necessarily, but what it means it to you and what it can do for you.
We all have our money stories. And we've all been told how best to use money, where to spend it, what to spend it on, and the best way to invest it.
But all those stories have been told based on someone else's experiences and beliefs. Have you ever stopped to think about how you want to spend your money and what's of value to you?
In this episode, I break convention and talk about money and actual figures! Yep, I'm discussing money I've spent, what I spent it on, why I spent it, and why I now firmly believe that the best investment you can make is to invest in yourself!
By the end of the episode, you'll be thinking about money (and value) differently.

You know certain things make you feel good and serve your mission.
Whether its:
We all know that if we do these things consistently, we'll feel better and live better.
But they need to become habits. Otherwise, you'll be like those new year people in the gym who hit it hard for two weeks and then fall off.
In this week's episode, I talk about how you can build habits that serve you and share what I did to go from a sporadic meditator to creating a daily meditation practice with that has now lasted over 100 days!
If you're looking to build sustainable habits that support you in creating a Lit! life, this episode is going to show you how to start.

Inspiration can lead to imitation if you're not careful.
We've all been there, unhappy with where we are, looking ahead at where we want to be, and inspired by someone who's done what we want to do.
But when that inspiration stops simply fuelling our desire, and instead, we start wishing for and imitating that person's life, that's a problem.
We're not them. And we don't know what their life is really like behind the glossy veneer. If we did, would we really want it?
In this week's episode, I discuss why copying and pasting someone else's life onto your own is not the best strategy for a lit life and what you can do instead.

Do the same, get the same.
It's a simple phrase I always like to remind myself of because it's a phrase I wish I had understood properly and implemented back when I struggled with limiting beliefs and lethargy in my BigLaw days.
Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. And that's effectively what the title of the episode means. If you always do the same thing, you will always get the same result.
It's simple, right? I mean, you say it, and you just think, Duh!
But it's not something that we always follow.
And if it's so simple, if this is such an easy concept to get, why do we keep banging our heads against brick walls when we know that's not the way to create a breakthrough?
In this week's episode, I share the effects of me doing the same thing without success and how my life changed when my actions changed, and I took 4 simple steps.

We have more distractions than at any other time in history.
And the biggest distraction for most of us is the little pocket computer we carry around with us everywhere we go (even the toilet, so I've heard).
When that phone pings or vibrates, the urge to check what that notification relates to is a string.
And even when it's simply sat there, not moving, not making a sound, the urge to pick it up anyway and find something to distract us is compelling.
So how do you deal with distractions, especially the digital kind?
Well, if you said discipline, that's not a wrong answer. I just don't think it's the most effective one.
Why?
Check the episode, and I'll tell you why.
I'll also share with you the one thing you can do instead. The one question that's helped me, and my clients, see distraction differently.

Personal growth and development can be overwhelming.
You read the books and watch the videos, but how often do you implement the tools, concepts and strategies that inspire you?
If you're like I was, hardly ever. Because it all seems too hard! There's too much to do. So you fall back into old habits like a pair of comfortable shoes.
I don't want this for you.
Change is hard, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. It's all about starting small and working through the process.
That's why I created Triple C 101.
Triple C 101 is a short, sharp mini-course that gives you the tools to work through and apply 3 key concepts from my book, The Triple C Method.
In this episode, I share with you:
- why I created Triple C 101;
- what's in it and why you need it; and
- how to get your hands on it so you can start creating your lit life!!

How would you feel if I called you a quitter?
Would it anger you? Upset you? Would you want to argue with me and punch me in the face?
Quitting, being seen to quit, can bring up feelings of hurt, shame and embarrassment.
Why?
Because we're often told that quitting is bad, and quit is treated as if it's a dirty word.
The prevailing narrative is that you keep pushing forward no matter what. You stay in your lane, focus on one thing, and be willing to risk everything to complete what you committed to.
But is that helpful?
In this week's episode, I share:
- how I got comfortable with quitting;
- the two key reasons for quitting and the importance of knowing which one applies to you; and
- why quitting is sometimes the best thing for you.

Not everybody wants to see you shine. So what do you do when your old people don't support the new you?
This episode is inspired by a conversation I had at an event recently. And it's something I've experienced ever since I walked away from BigLaw and started on a new path.
It took me time to work through my feelings, hurt, anger frustration, and in this week's episode, I'm sharing how you can work through yours.
See, once you start to change your life, step away from the person people knew so you can become the person you want to be, you're gonna feel the feels when friends fail to acknowledge your path and support what you're doing.
Stick around to the end where I share five things you can do when your old people don't support the new you.
