In this episode of the podcast I visit with Nebraska's own Shawn Cole. Shawn has made his living as a touring musician for over the past 10 years primarily as a one-man-band who not only plays guitar and harmonica while singing, but also plays a kick and snare drum with his feet. He's shared the stage with country music icons like Willie Nelson, Johnny Paycheck and David Allen Coe. His harmonica work has been featured on many other artist's projects including those of the band Bright Eyes whose records have sold in the hundreds of thousands of copies. Shawn performs upwards of 200 shows per year as well as managing and operating his own entertainment booking agency. More information on this hard-working musician by going to www.shawncole.net

In this 2nd and final half of my interview with Trevor Burgess we talk about his record "Trucker's Dream" and the recording of that project with Travis Linville and Kevin Webb. This record eventually led to Burgess forming and touring with The Trevor Burgess Band whom made trips up and down I-35 in the mid 2000s. We visit about his stab at using radio promotion to create some buzz about the project. Trevor also talks about life after music and his career now as a member of the law enforcement community. He also conveys a humorous story or two from the road, including a time when Jason Boland mentions him onstage...but mispronounces his last name.

In this episode I interview my good friend Trevor Burgess about his time traveling the Midwest as a live musician; not only as a solo artist, but also as a band leader. We venture into our days of forming a garage band together in high school, to our eventual time at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS where we both played open mic nights before working our way into paying gigs. We visit about his journey from being a man with a regular job to finding himself making his entire living from playing live music in bars and beer joints. We also discuss the rise of the "Red Dirt" and "Texas Country" movement during our time in Manhattan, KS and his impact on that scene. We also discuss some of the more interesting times in Trevor's life from the time he spent working for sports broadcasting legend Pat Summerly to a day Burgess spent hanging out with the one and only O.J. Simpson!
