Teri M Brown knows this journey intimately. Born in Athens, Greece as an Air Force brat, she came into the world with an imagination full of stories to tell . She graduated from UNC Greensboro with multiple degrees—Elementary Education, Psychology, Math, and Sociology—because she just couldn't settle on one thing .

But it was in 2017, after finally getting out of a 14-year emotionally abusive marriage, that Teri began writing fiction—a lifelong dream. Upon winning the First Annual Anita Bloom Ornoff Award for Inspirational Short Story, she began writing in earnest .

Her debut novel, Sunflowers Beneath the Snow (2022), a historical fiction set in Ukraine, launched just three weeks before the current Ukrainian crisis and has won 12 awards . Her second novel, An Enemy Like Me (2023), a WWII historical fiction, has won 27 awards . Her third novel, Daughters of Green Mountain Gap (2024), a generational story about Appalachian healers, won the North Carolina Humanities 2026 Reads Selection .

In 2020, Teri and her late husband Bruce rode a tandem bicycle over 3,102 miles across the United States—from Astoria, Oregon to Washington, DC—successfully raising money for Toys for Tots . This journey became the inspiration for 10 Little Rules for a Double-Butted Adventure (2025), an inspirational book about the life lessons she learned on the road .
