  • #57 How to Get Out of Debt And Start Building Wealth w/ Paco De Leon

In my podcast interview with Paco De Leon, author, entrepreneur, illustrator and musician, she shares her brilliance on how to become financially literate, how to tackle debt and build wealth from her book, Finance for the People.

Her perspective on personal finance sets her apart from other financial gurus, who adopt a more objective approach and fail to point out that systemic inequality like racism, sexism, homophobia and classism play a major role in the wage gap and why it’s a constant struggle for people from marginalized communities to get out of poverty and actually build wealth.

She also incorporates mindset (which as a coach I love!) and offers useful tips and insights that explain A LOT about why we’re so weird about money and how to have a healthier financial life.

  • #56 Relationship Advice: Treat It Like a Business

In this week’s podcast episode I share 7 relationship tips that my partner and I use that are weirdly similar to business.

I used to think rules and tools like this had no place in a relationship. It’s so business-like and takes away from the romantic aspect - the spark. But to be honest, having these practices has brought us closer together, helps us avoid conflict and grows us as a couple.

I spent years in relationships expecting them to magically work. I assumed love and affection was all you needed to succeed.

Today, I know that healthy and secure relationships don’t just happen. They are built intentionally, with you two showing up as a team. You need more structure than you think.

Bottom line - you gotta do what works, even if it seems unromantic or unsexy at times. Because when you are intentional in this way, it can create more space for all the sexy and romantic things.

  • #55 My life Changing Experience with Vipassana, a 10 Day Silent Meditation Course

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to completely unplug from everyday life?

Can you imagine taking intentional time away from everything?

No phones, no talking to people, no to do list to check off…nothing.

Does this idea sound exciting, strange or scary to you?

What If I told you there are many people around the world who do this for weeks at a time. People like Jack Dorsey, Yoval Noah Harari, Yung Pueblo and even me.

The experience I’m referring to is Vipassana Meditation. It is a 10 day course where you learn how to practice the technique and it includes over 100 hours of meditation during the program.

It’s a journey to say the least. And a practice I’ve gotten a lot of benefits from.

Since attending my second course last month here are some of the positive changes I’ve noticed:

    • I’m getting out of my comfort zone more often
    • My self care practice is the best it’s ever been
    • I’ve been meditating 2+ hours a day consistently
    • My partner and I have gotten closer and more grounded in our relationship
    • I’ve become extra intentional about how I spend my time and who I spend it with

In my latest podcast episode I go into detail about these changes and share what it’s like to attend a Vipassana meditation retreat. I answer a lot of questions that I get asked frequently by people who are curious about the experience and/or might want to attend a course themselves.

  • #53 The Undercurrent Podcast Turns 1!

Guess what, the Undercurrent podcast is 1 year old this week! 🥳

I’m really excited to be celebrating this milestone with you. And want to say thanks for being a part of this journey with me.

A year ago, I remember feeling nervous about starting the show and doing something for the first time again.

There were lots of ups and downs:

I had no idea what I was doing at times and had to figure out so many things on the spot. There were plenty of late nights, tears and staring at a blank screen not knowing what to create.

There were also moments when I would finish an episode feeling awesome, aligned, accomplished and found myself beaming with pride.

Over the past year I opened up more and shared personal stories that were pretty vulnerable. This process grew me and also drew me closer to you.

I appreciate all the replies sharing how you connected with my content and the direct messages I received sharing personal stories from your life too.

And you know what blows me away? Only just recently I found out that our community is world wide and we’ve got listeners and readers from every continent (sans Antarctica but we’ll work on that 😉). But how cool is that?

If you’ve been following the show for a while you know that I value diversity and inclusion. And you’ll see that reflected in the guests I’ve interviewed. We’ve got people from different countries, ages and gender identities - folks from all different walks of life.

You’ll hear that no two guests sound alike - we’ve got accents for days, which I’m super proud of.

For our anniversary, I wanted to celebrate by doing something a little different. So in this episode I’ll be sharing some show highlights from the past year.

If you’re new to the podcast you’ll learn that we cover lots of different topics: from mindset, personal growth, relationships to entrepreneurship. And we also like to go deep and don’t shy away from talking about mental health, trauma and social justice issues.

Thanks again for being a part of this community. I’m grateful to be able to connect with you every single week.

P.S. Is there a topic you like to see covered? Let us know!

  • #51 Who Are You Really? w/ Joseph Braccio

In my interview with a Fear and Relationship Expert, Joseph Braccio, he shares his perspective on the topic of identity and how we tend to live with a false sense of who we really are. When we become attached to our labels (gender, race, class, occupation), it creates separation and suffering. Joseph shares that when we ask ourselves the question, “Who am I?”, is almost impossible to answer. But we do have a core, authentic self - a way of being in true alignment. And a way to get to that place is through facing our fears.

  • #50 How to be Friends with Your Parents w/ Rae Tsai

In the latest podcast episode, I speak with Rae Tsai who is a Life Coach, podcast host and member of the boomer generation. She grew up in Taiwan, immigrated to the US and raised her kids on the east coast. As a family they also experienced challenges around straddling the differences between eastern and western culture and generational gaps, which put a lot of stress on their relationship.

Rae put in a lot of work to learn how to build a loving connection with her adult children and shares her secrets on the show.

  • #49 Owning My Racial Identity

In an interview with my friend, coach and healer Anné Klint, I share what it was like as an intersectional minority in a male dominated workplace. I talk about how I whitewashed myself to find a sense of belonging and “look the part” to portray the perfect employee. But what actually ended up happening was that I completely disconnected from myself.

This self-abandoning behavior began to take a toll on my well being, my relationships and my career.
