Prince Andrew denied the allegations, maintaining that the claims were false and at times stating he did not recall meeting her.

The case quickly became a high-profile legal battle, with disputes over whether Andrew had been properly served with legal papers and whether a prior 2009 settlement between Giuffre and Epstein could shield him from liability. A U.S. judge ultimately allowed the lawsuit to proceed, rejecting attempts to dismiss it. The lawsuit placed significant pressure on the royal, intensifying scrutiny of his ties to Epstein and raising the prospect of him being questioned under oath before the case was eventually settled out of court in 2022.
