to causes of wrongful convictions, The Wrongful Convictions Reader.

I fight for the rights of wrongly convicted people, and to expand the idea of who is “wrongfully convicted” beyond factual innocence. Many people we identify as “criminals” and prosecute are wrongly convicted in our system, over-sentenced for drug offenses, and criminalized for their identities. I’m grateful that my job is to fight for them, and teach others about how to change our criminal legal system.

About Dallas Goodlet: 
My parents told me I was adopted at age 5. At that time, I thought I knew who my biological parents/family were. At age 19, I found out they weren’t my biological family. I had anger problems already from the shame, abandonment I felt from being adopted but when I found out, who I thought, were my birth parents weren’t, my whole life/identity just crumbled and that led to years of reckless behavior of drugs and alcohol abuse, attempted suicides, feelings of being totally worthless. In that time, I never gave up though, never quit. At age 24, I took a heavy does of psilocybin mushrooms and my life changed in a matter of hours. All the negative labels I had were stripped away and replaced with positive labels. I began to love myself for the first time ever. Everything changed. At age 30, is when I had my daughter (my only blood I know) I slowly started to stop drinking and doing drugs. At age 35, I took up walking long distances and that also changed my life. Today, I am sober, have lost 80lbs and have a dream/purpose to help mentor lost youth and also help adults quit their vices that are holding them back.
