  • Even UFO's Like New Years
Runcorn, Cheshire, 1978. It’s New Years Eve and the area is preparing for the usual night of revelry, seeing out the old and ringing in the new. But for Andrew McDonald, it was to be a night to remember for a different reason. Andrew had been out visiting mates and was cycling home, when he heard a strange ringing or buzzing in his ears. Despite the early nights of January, he noticed the area around him had gone particularly dark. Stopping his bike and looking up he saw a massive circular object above him. Worse, at the centre as a bright light – but it didn’t hurt his eyes. Suddenly the light emitted a powerful beam to where he was standing, and he felt himself being pulled at towards the craft. But it couldn’t seem to live him and his bicycle. After about a minutes’ worth of strain whatever it was decided the Young McDonald wasn’t worth the effort, retracted it’s light and flew off. Andrew McDonald didn’t really care for going out on his bike after that, despite the probability his bike was the only thing which saved him from a very strange experience indeed.
But Andrew wasn’t the only person to see odd things that night. Reports of strange lights and objects flooding in from all over the UK. Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Norwich and even Scotland had reports flooding in of the strange and unEarthly.
In London, Patricia White was heading home after finishing her shift at a popular nightclub. Her regular driver from a local taxi firm looked up and saw a bright, metallic object over their car as they headed away from Wembley. On the object a series of pulsating lights seemed to flash in some sequence, and while the machine seemed to be the size of several houses, it made no sound. It followed them, over the houses and down the streets until they reached Harrow, when – perhaps not wishing to enter the area – it zoomed away. All the time the drivers’ radio ceased to work and there was difficult with the electrics in the car. Once it had abandoned the chase, everything returned to normal. It being New Years Eve, there were few official bodies to report things to, but once officials returned to work, the reports of the object – now three days old – were made to the necessary authorities, who dismissed both this, the multitudinous other sightings and young Andrew McDonald as mistaking space debris and small meteors for more mysterious explanations.

  • The Fort Beaufort Incident - 1967
It’s June 26, 1972, and two Police officers in South Africa are going about their duties. Fort Beaufort is a small area, established in 1837, and is a town in the Amatole District of South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. Called to a site in the area, a small piece of woodland, the officers entered a glade. There, in front of them was something the officers had no training to handle; a silver coloured object hovering above the ground. The object just hung there, defying all gravity, stubbornly silent. The Officers could see no one adjacent to the object, and, understandably alarmed, they took out their service revolvers, and fired at the intruder.
What happened to those rounds is unknown. The bullets seemed to vanish before making contact with the craft, as if hitting something shielding the invader. Instead, as silently as it floated, the object rose slowly above the trees, and shot off at altitude at high speed.
The officers filed their reports and what, exactly was visiting the town of Fort Beaufort has never been discovered. Ordinarily, this case would be dismissed, but the officers never changed their story, and additional civilian witnesses back up the account

  • Virginia and Maine, Attorneys, Mayors and UFOs
A flurry of UFO reports in Virginia in 1965 caused a Sheriff to say ‘enough now’. Sightings and reports were almost every other call, and most were reporting the same thing. John Kent, the sheriff in question told the Richmond Times Despatch the sheer number of reports which were flooding into his office was causing real concern with himself and his officers that it was damaging their response to other matters and putting the community in danger.
The sightings had fostered fear in some of the population, so much so that a posse from Brands Flars had been formed to shoot the visitors. This escalated quickly to the State Attorney General, who replied “There is no law that prohibits the shooting of little green men who may or may not be in the United States without the necessary paperwork”.
A similar sort of thing happened in Bangor, Maine in March 1966, when a local man observed a craft in the sky. Driving along one of the numerous country roads, the mans attention was attracted to a large, saucer shaped object hanging in the sky over the road in front of him. As he pulled up to observe it, the craft slowly moved to the right of his position and descended, before approaching the mans’ location scraping trees and other tall obstacles en-route. The man, who was not named, took out a pistol from the glove box of his vehicle and fired five shots into the thing, and all five seemed to just bounce off leaving no visible impact. However, the machine paused, reversed and moved away. The man reported the event and investigators found that indeed something large had knocked at least 5 foot off the top of the trees in a south by south west direction. Word eventually reached the Mayor, who sprang into action, declaring in posters pinned to lamp posts and the council’s roof, that the ‘little green men’ were more than welcome to visit or indeed consider moving in to the area which boasted beautiful scenery, a good array of local facilities and, of course, thriving jobs market’.

  • The Curious Case of Doris Fischer
How many of you are there? As it's known today, disassociative identity disorder has become more recognised by clinical services, yet the condition itself is subject to conjecture.

This is the story of Doris Fischer, not the first and certainly not the last case of this mysterious condition.

It's taken from 'Mysteries', by Colin Wilson, pages 210 to 216. There is more in the book but the thing which interested me is the conclusion reached by Dr Prince.
