The Latest and Greatest...

Thanks for tuning in to the final installment of our September songs. There's not much left to say about this month. Some of my all time favorite SoundClouders agreed to be involved in our little show and I personally could not be prouder. We featured one of my favorite bands to ever be featured with DuCru and even managed an interview with Andrew Dugan from the group.We aired our first Ska punk band with Alex Kid and had a blast putting them on repeat. Stella Haze dropped in and started the string of ultra talented female singer songwriters followed by the queen of the independents herself Cyra Morgan, capped off by Edie Brickell collaborating with our very own brother Derek Cornett. The episodes ends with a great interview from Derek with us and the entire show is packed with great music conversation and then some.

Thanks fpr supporting the cause my friends. Your sharing and liking is what keeps us grooving along. We will be back next month with a brand new power house list of metal and more great conversation as well. It's Another Recap Session...

Hi and welcome fans and bands to another Underground Recap Session. These are the episodes that I really end up enjoying the most. After all of the hard work and planning is done I finally get to sit around with my good friends and just talk. While we do discuss the music we've collected throughout the month we always end up chatting about so much more as well and I never really know in the end where that conversation will go. Thank you to Erik from Hifidelics.com and of course my partner Travis from the band The Day The Sky Fell for joining me this month. They both did a great job, Thank you as well to Jimmy Hinchcliff for battling the Google plugin to join us for a pretty interesting short interview.

This is one of those months that has me reflecting a bit. From where I started two years ago to where the show is now. Our goal was never to become some giant in the industry, was never to really have an objective, but more to feature new bands, artists, and musicians that weren't played. My goal as producer and co founder was to try and stay fluid in my role, and let the concept organically evolve. Since that first episode that Tony and I did recording our hangout through the garageband app to this episode the show has come a long way. We are still doing what we set out to do. Still highlighting great independent music. We haven't sold out in anyway. Still uncensored and unedited, Some ideas haven't panned out as I had hoped while some aspects have taken on a life of their own. Tony and Adam have gone, Nicole and Johan have come and gone. There has been plenty of changes drama control issues, and more behind the scenes problems then a kardashian picnic, but the show has been left to evolve. So while I'm left missing some, and resenting others, I owe them all a giant Thank you for helping make The Unsigned Countdown and Underground Recap Sessions better in the time that they were involved. Thank you as well to Jacob and Travis for sticking around, Charles for coming on board, and to every band that has let us feature them. Nothing great is ever easy, but while it's never been simple to pull off. In the end of every month, when I finally get to sit down and just hit that record button and talk. I'm always and will always be super grateful

Then on Christmas we open that up to all when we ask for Unsigned and Independent original or public domain classic cover Holiday tracks to fill our annual Stitcher Christmas Special.

Who Is Ready For Tomorrow

Although it's still early with the new crew there is a real difference in attitude toward discussions about the events surrounding the show. An excitement about what we are actually trying to accomplish seems to fill the private chat we all use to keep connected. While talks often stream to the off topic some how for some reason I've noticed that with out me poking them these guys continually come back to subjects like the recordings, or new finds that we need to feature. For me it's pretty cool. What we do here is pretty cool. We feature promote and review music of the unsigned variety. but suddenly and with out forcing anything we've become fun again.

In the coming months we hope to evolve into something even broader then we have been. We are considering new genres and new ways to promote. No longer I hope will it be ten songs picked by me and more of a collaboration of the minds getting together to talk tunes and having fun being able to just get together and talk. Just in our first get together earlier the crew recorded their first song bumpers and if that was any indication of where this new The Unsigned Countdown is going, I'm super excited to be involved and even more excited for you as the fan to listen.

Welcome to August. And welcome to another mid season changing of the guard. We got a brand new list of great unsigned talents to bleed your earballs and a new group of learned and oh so talented co-hosts to discuss them. While I Jason am producer and so stuck in my glorified position every other former host was given the opportunity to resign or move on to bigger and better things. Our buddy and now the veteran of the gang Jacob has decided to stick around and battle through the mixture of music that at some points leaves him pulling on his nut sack. Our boy Travis is going to be a mainstay for years to come and enjoys a wide variety of genres. Joining the cast this month is the wise oracle Charles. His high brow antics and down to earth point of view should leave you scratching your head and laughing your ass off. Finally we are lucky enough to get the all knowing and master of metal edm and production the singer songwriter and genius of our season one winning band Benson.
