1. New York City expects to take a $7.4 billion budget hit over the next 15 months because of the coronavirus. That's according to Mayor Bill de Blasio, who detailed planned cuts Thursday. He's appealing to President Donald Trump and Congress for an infusion of cash for cities and states.

2. An attorney for a man accused of committing an anti-Semitic attack with a machete wants the body of the victim who died to be exhumed. The Journal News reports that attorney Michael Sussman wants the body of Josef Neumann exhumed for an autopsy. Neumann was one of five people injured in the attack on a rabbi’s home in Monsey, New York, on Dec. 28.

3. WWE has started releasing professional wrestlers in budget cuts related to the coronavirus pandemic. The moves came after pro wrestling was deemed “essential” in an order by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The order from DeSantis allows WWE to put on shows without fans in the Orlando area.

1. New York City advised grocery stores Wednesday to require customers to cover their faces while shopping as officials said they would create an emergency food reserve and take other steps to safeguard residents’ sustenance. Meanwhile, the mayor urged a cautious and deliberative approach to reviving the economy.

2. Authorities say a New York City man has been arrested after he texted several friends that he was going to blow up a statue of Alice in Wonderland in Central Park with a pipe bomb. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Kevin Fallon was arrested Saturday after police found what appeared to be three pipe bombs in his apartment. The bombs turned out to be empty.

3. A celebrity branding company is seeking at least $10 million in a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Ayesha Curry, food and lifestyle personality and wife of NBA star Stephen Curry. Flutie Entertainment said in the suit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles that the five years it spent with Ayesha Curry brought “significant and unprecedented results,” including a Food Network show and bestselling cookbook.

1. Bernie Sanders, who saw his once strong lead in the Democratic primary evaporate as the party’s establishment lined swiftly up behind rival Joe Biden, has ended his presidential bid. His announcement leaves former Vice President Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic nominee to challenge President Donald Trump in November.

2. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says the city’s death toll from the coronavirus has been disproportionately high in black and Hispanic communities. He said that preliminary data indicates that black people account for 28% of the city’s COVID-19 death toll though they are just 22% of the city’s population. He says Hispanic people are 34% of the city’s virus death toll and 29% of its population.

3. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has raised the possibility of not being able to complete the regular season. During an interview on NBCSN, he stressed that all options remain on the table. Bettman said the league is hoping to have a clearer picture of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in the next few weeks, and that “nothing has been ruled in and nothing ruled out.”

1. Coronavirus deaths in New York state climbed to nearly 4,200. But there is a slight glimmer of hope the spread is slowing. The state recorded a slight dip in fatalities Sunday compared to the day before. Gov. Cuomo told reporters it was too soon to say whether the pandemic had reached its apex and urged New Yorkers to remain vigilant.

2. A tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York City has tested positive for the new coronavirus. It's believed to be the first infection in an animal in the U.S. and the first known in a tiger anywhere. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Sunday that the 4-year-old Malayan tiger, and six other tigers and lions that have also fallen ill, are believed to have been infected by a zoo employee.

3. With NBA games indefinitely on hold there has been a lot of discussion about postseason possibilities. That includes coaches around the league. If NBA games do resume this season in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic the league may choose to go with the option of immediately starting the postseason.
