Some stories talked about on today's show were: 

1. New York City has closed two co-located schools, the Laboratory School of Finance and Technology and South Bronx Preparatory: A College Board School, in the Bronx due to a student's self-confirmed positive case of COVID-19. The one-mile containment zone is officially in effect in New Rochelle. Governor Cuomo also officially postponed the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the Knicks have been told to self-quarantine amid growing coronavirus concerns.

2. The sell-off bludgeoning financial markets around the world got even worse Thursday as the economic pain caused by the coronavirus became more painfully clear. Worries are rising that the White House and other authorities around the world can't or won't help the weakening economy soon. The S&P 500 was down 7%, as of 10:15 a.m., after trading was temporarily halted following a steep drop in the first few minutes of trading.

3. Police on Long Island will no longer hold immigrants eligible for release who are being sought by federal authorities for deportations, putting an end to a lawsuit challenging the policy. Court records show Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder issued an internal administrative order rescinding the policy on Jan. 3.

Some stories talked about on today's show were: 

1. (Has changed since broadcast) As coronavirus cases topped 200, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says CUNY and SUNY will move to online learning and called for other actions across the state to stop the spread of the disease. Cuomo said there are now 212 cases in New York with more than half in Westchester County. Gov. Cuomo said that health experts are recommending that New York City's venerable St. Patrick's Day parade be cancelled amid the coronavirus outbreak. 

2. Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault, a sight the disgraced Hollywood mogul's multitude of accusers thought they would never see. Weinstein, who has been accused of violating scores of women, was convicted last month of raping a once-aspiring actress in a New York City hotel room in 2013 and forcibly performing oral sex on former TV and film production assistant Mimi Haleyi at his apartment in 2006. He faced a maximum of 29 years in prison.

3. The leader of a cult-like self-improvement group that attracted heiresses and Hollywood actresses is requesting a new trial in his sex-trafficking case. A jury convicted Keith Raniere in June on all counts of sex-trafficking and coercing women into sex. He and his lawyers filed a motion Monday in Brooklyn federal court for a new trial, arguing that two witnesses perjured themselves when they denied they were planning to sue him after the trial.
