  • Week in Review - October 25, 2024

This week started off a little slow, but thankfully the news cycle started to hit its stride yesterday and we did manage to find a few things to chat about this week.

For starters, our friends over at the Sportsmen’s Alliance released a rather robust report that we all ought to read and, quite honestly, stick our chests out just a little bit for. According to the report, we as hunters contribute more economic value than a few NFL teams combined and a couple of Fortune 500 companies.

    We're also covering:

    •  12-year-old boy receives award for saving his father during bear attack
    •  The elk affectionately named Roger has been euthanized after mixing it up with the locals.
    • Colorado officials host conflict mitigation meetings as ranchers and wildlife groups call for pause in wolf reintroduction
    • Police identify 81-year-old Utah man who drowned while duck hunting
    • Scientist photographs Burmese Python swallowing a whitetail deer whole

  • Week in Review - October 18, 2024

This week we’re covering the story of a woman and her three juvenile accomplices that went on an absolute tear over the course of a couple of years, illegally killing upwards of 100 deer.

We’re also following the infamous story of the Alexander buck. For those of you who may have been living under a rock for the last year-or-so, a young Ohio man killed an absolute monster of a buck last fall and was insta-famous for a minute or two before wildlife officials started sniffing around. As it turns out, it was an elaborate (and illegal) scheme that, despite the evidence against him, the accused remained steadfast in defending his innocence. That is until this week when he seemingly changed his tune…

    We're also covering:

    •  Oregon State Police Circulating Photo of Suspect Caught on Trail Camera Where a Bull Elk was Poached
    •  7,000 Albertans Apply to Hunt Grizzly Bears Under New ‘Problem Wildlife’ Program
    • Off-duty Game Warden busts 21-year-old poachers in Pennsylvania
    • 90 bears hit the ground on day one of NJ archery season
    • Idaho man charged with poaching elk with silenced rifle

  • Week in Review - October 4, 2024

This week we’re covering the story of 81-year-old Arthur Shubarth who earlier this year was caught for importing foreign sheep parts, cloning embryos and eventually creating a giant sheep specimen he later named the “Montana Mountain King” who he would soon use to breed even more super-sheep and sell them to captive hunting operations across the country. Well, he finally had his day in court and things aren’t looking all that good for him.

We’ve also got the story of a trio of guides who are now facing federal Lacey Act violations stemming from over a dozen illegally killed and transported mountain lions. And let me tell you, these guys are going to be worse off than the old man and his sheep.

    We're also covering:

    •  Northern Ontario man facing big fines after getting his Indigenous buddy to claim he shot a big bull moose
    •  Three people killed in apparent dispute over hunting land
    • “Fat Bear Week” gets delayed after a large bear kills a rival bear live on camera
