Privilege - a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group.
There are plenty of discussions being had about "privilege" these days.. While white privilege, male privilege, and straight privilege typically account for the bulk of these discussions, examples of other types of identity that can afford an individual privilege include: religion, socioeconomic status, country of origin, language, and/or ability. One other form of privilege that spans all spectrums of identity but is rarely discussed is pretty privilege, or the "Halo effect". This week the Intellects discuss pretty privilege, and some of it's many benefits (63:00).
The gentleman also discuss a plethora of other topics in "First things First" (9:36) such as contention in the Democratic party prior to the last debate before the Iowa caucuses (9:58), Oprah Winfrey stepping away from her latest #metoo documentary (12:53), Prince Harry and Meghan Markle renouncing their throne (14:24), activists protesting the inhumane conditions at Parchman Prison in Mississippi (17:44), and 23andMe selling the rights to develop drugs based on its users' DNA (21:06). "I'm MAD AS HELL, and i'm not gonna take this anymore!" Wolf is mad y'all, (in case you missed that from the first sentence).
On a recent episode of daytime talkshow The Real, Co-host Loni Love said: “I do think that a lot of Black men, they really don’t know how to have true, faithful relationships. They think because they have money, because they have power, that they can treat women any kind of way.”
Wolf shares his thoughts and feelings about these comments, and the perceived agenda (as he sees it) against black men.
"No victim here. Just raw passion, and an observation. This shit here must stop!!" - Wolf

This week the Intellects discuss body positivity and fat shaming. Atlantic Records recording artist Lizzo caused quite the stir recently when she went to a Los Angeles Lakers game wearing a shirt with her butt cheeks exposed. The guys discuss the larger conversation surrounding Lizzo, and if being critical of the outfits or antics of a new body positivity and self-love icon should be considered "fat phobic", or just holding one individual accountable.
The gentleman also discuss the NFL's decision to honor Michael Vick at the Pro Bowl by making him an honorary captain. People are NOT happy about this. At the time of this recording, a change.org petition had garnered over 500,000 signatures in protest of this choice by the NFL. Is true redemption only reserved for a certain few? Is it because he's black? Is it fair to continue to strip opportunities away from someone that has not only paid their debt to society, but used their platform to advocate for the rights of animals?
Plus, Democrats formally unveil two articles of impeachment, Uber reveals 3000 incidents of sexual assault, 'When They See Us' gets snubbed at the Golden Globes, and a UPS driver and a civilian are killed in Miami when at least 18 police officers fired their guns in a movie-style shootout with hijackers.
