This week we look at two miraculous signs that John recorded. In each story, not only did Jesus alleviate their physical need, He looked into their heart and addressed their spiritual need. What is it you seek? Do you want to be made well? In this podcast, Sue reminds us that Jesus’ every word takes us deeper if we are willing.

This week, we discuss a key event (sign) that demonstrated Jesus’ Lordship, His passion for God’s House, and heart for His people. Using a simple acrostic, TEMPLE, Wendy encourages us with practical steps for living a holy life that worships and honors God.

We know as believers that Jesus is God personified. But why is that essential? What we believe about Jesus determines whether we will spend eternity with Him or separated from Him. John wanted people to know that Jesus was fully God and fully man, so he chose to write about the signs (miracles) that revealed Jesus’ glory and divine power over all creation. In this episode, Tiffany looks at the first sign, when Jesus turned water into wine.

In this follow-up podcast to our James study, we are talking about prayer. What makes our prayers powerful and effective? This week, Leah shares, “Three Things I’m glad someone told me about prayer.”

We close our study in James on a high note, with a call to pray. Prayer is an essential part of being a child of God—in truth, praying is spiritual breathing! In this episode, Cathe shares how prayer moves the heart of God and reminds us that we all stand on the answered prayers of someone before us.

If we truly believe that Jesus is coming back, it will affect the way we live. In this podcast, Shelley reminds us that patiently waiting is an active and hope-filled way to live! There are opportunities all around us to shine our light and be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us. “It was fifty years ago this spring that I accepted the Lord during the Jesus Revolution,” Shelley recalls. “I expected Him to come back soon, and I still do!” In the meantime, let’s keep planting seeds, pulling weeds, and trust the Lord to send rain so that His harvest will be rich, ripe and abundant.

James 4 began with talking about war with God and ends with the will of God. The topic of God’s will for our life is so big and honestly, we struggle with that sometimes. As Warren Wiersbe used to say, a believer who is out of the will of God becomes a troublemaker, not a peacemaker!
Life can be complicated and sometimes scary, but God desires the very best for His children. He knows that the process of seeking Him is as important as the answer He might give to any question. So in this episode, Tiffany encourages us with a simple truth. The will of God comes from the heart of God. The safest place in the world is right where God wants you.

What’s all the fighting about? James asked that question, and you’d think he was writing in today’s culture! Everywhere you turn, tension is high, patience is low, and criticism prevails. But James wasn’t talking to “the world”—he’s addressing Christians, people like you and me, why can’t we get along? It’s a heart issue. What is competing for a place in our heart that only the Lord should occupy?
In this episode, Melanie reminds us that salvation is an instant work, but inner change is a lifelong pursuit. What are we pursuing, who is holding the reins of our heart? Becoming more like Jesus must be our goal to the very last breath we take on this earth.

This week our study couldn’t be more perfect as we step into 2023. Raise your hand if you need wisdom! We all want to make right decisions and say the right thing. James looks at God’s wisdom and worldly wisdom. Just as you can identify a tree by the type of fruit it produces, you can evaluate your wisdom by the way you act.
In this episode, Sue reminds us that wisdom flows from seeing God for who He is and responding appropriately. If you’re looking for a practical how-to, she gives it in three simple steps. Know your God. Trust and obey. Ask. The steps are the same for every person—whether you are just discovering faith or if you’ve been walking this path for many years.
We can trust the Creator of the universe (He created you!) to give us His wisdom. Do you believe that? Come and see.

James discusses topics that are as relevant today as when he wrote this letter. In this episode, we’re looking at the power of our words—and these days, our fingers can be just as deadly as our tongues. Zenovia reminds us that using self-control before is better than doing damage control after. When we open our mouths, let it be to share life with those around us.
