    • Episode 25: Streamline Your Workflow with The Door
      • In this episode of The Visible Workplace, Dr. Thomas Rolley introduces "The Door," a powerful concept for achieving a single "important, but not urgent" weekly target.
      • He starts with the Door because it is the mechanism that "gets things done" every week.
      • He discusses the importance of having a single location to capture the work of your world and ensure it's all in one place. Stop losing ideas and work and create a single place to hold and execute work.
      • This list allows you to assess the value of these ideas...
Do some need to be thrown out?
        Delegated?
        Done now?
      • He then discusses the concept of "The Door" of the week: a single important but not urgent idea that gets done that week. The Door is split into four "hits" that, when completed, open the door.
      • The final part of the podcast examines the simple yet extremely powerful idea of completing four work items each day. This requires identifying and then completing these items in a daily column.
      • The overall outcome for the week is 20 items getting done - moved from the Hot List to the daily execution list. A final point can be scored for "opening the door", giving a total possible score of 21 each week.
      • The Door is a critical part of living a productive and rewarding life known as the "Warriors Way". Find out more at trainers.wakeupwarrior.com

            • By making the steps visible in work processes, a tedious copy-paste task can be optimised at multiple levels - first to get the task done most effectively and then at a higher level using asset thinking to improve the process further.
            • What was a 3-hour process has been reduced to 60 minutes or even 10 minutes or less with the improvements in workflow.
            • While this saves money for the business, perhaps more importantly, it reduces team member frustration than being forced to do inefficient and unrewarding work.
            • In a workforce with low unemployment, refusing to improve poorly optimised work is a risk for good people moving to better workplaces!

                      • Second, there is high attractiveness and easy selling when the focus is on the identity of who someone becomes by investing in a program. This transcends features, benefits, solutions and even results...
                      • Finally, the importance of open space on your calendar to allow for true creativity. Grinding 12-14 hour days will not allow for the space for inspiration to arrive and the space to do the work from that inspiration. This starts with getting clear on what is important to you and setting up your week to meet your requirements.
