In this episode, I had the opportunity to sit down with Avard Moncur. Avard was born in Nassau, Bahamas, and went on to become a prolific track and field athlete, specializing in the 400m, competing at the World Championship and Olympic level. His list of athletic accolades spans almost the entirety of his wikipedia page, which I encourage everyone listening to check for yourselves. Included in this list are; 1 world championship bronze medal, 2 world championship silver medals, 2 world championship gold medals, and an olympic bronze medal finish in the 2000 olympic games in Sydney, Australia. Avard also holds a Bahamas national record for time in the 400, which to date has only been matched, not surpassed. Avard continues to be involved with Track, offering coaching to the track and field team at Georgia Tech where he works full time as the Academic Program Coordinator for the Biomedical Engineering department.
