  • WWI #47 Superhumans Part I: Why do some seem to posses super human abilities?

Savanna and I talk about "super humans" or regular humans who seem to know how to tap into "super" abillities. Wim Hof comes to mind and we talk about how he discovered his ability to activate his immune system and to raise his core temperature all from breathing techniques. Mike Stojic shows up a bit late from celebrating the Marine Corps Birthday with his friend. This will be the first part of a two part series.

  • #46 The 2nd Annual Halloween Extravaganza! Killer Clowns! Murder Castle? And finally, what happens when we die!

John Taylor, our very own expert in everything crime comes in for our Halloween episode to discuss America's creepiest serial killers. We start off with everyone's favorite killer clown, John Wayne Gacy. I figured since clowns are en vogue we'd have a good talk. We also discuss the strange case of HH Holmes. the builder of what was known as the "Murder Castle." And then, in Wait What If fashion, we end the show with a discussion of are ghosts real, time travel, the Fermi Paradox, free will and whatever else completely unrelated to the topic!
John Taylor has become a crucial member of the WWI Podcast team and we hope to hear more of him in up coming shows. Check out his books on Amazon and be sure to listen to his own podcast over at TwistedPodcast.com!

  • WWI #45: LIVE from the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew!
So, I like to consider myself prepared for emergencies. I'm by no means a "prepper" but I do have some provisions set aside in case there is an emergency. Well, Hurricane Matthew came roaring into town and hit us much harder than I anticipated. We had record flooding in most of the major rivers and streams that run through our neighborhoods. I was unable to make it into work due to washed out roadways. Our water supply was interrupted for the weekend. Now, I understand that this was totally a "first world" disaster. In fact, the hardships we endured for just a weekend, are a daily reality for many folks around the world.

Thanks for listening! We have a bunch of shows going out in the next week (ahead of our bi-monthly schedule) in celebration of my favorite holiday season, Halloween! Check back often!

    Cheers - Kevin

  • #44 Hans Fex, Creator of the Mini Museum, shares his success story!
Hans was down and out after a layoff from his dream job at Think Geek forced him to sink or swim. He was lucky enough to have a tight knit group of friends and colleagues who inspired him to complete a life long dream of creating the Mini Museum. The idea first came to him as a little boy when he watched his father encase an artifact into an epoxy capsule to preserve it. 40 years later, with the help of the crowd funding giants Kick Starter, his vision became a reality. The project was grandiose and took him to the corners of the world to collect interesting bits of history, modern and ancient. Hans was kind enough to share his story with us and I hope you enjoy!

You can visit his site (and pick up a mini museum yourself) at www.minimuseum.com

  • WWI #43: Guest Dan Molen. Topic: Hackers! And the role they play in society. The good, the bad and the scaary!
The quintessential Bar-stool Philosopher Dan Molen joins "The Doctor" Savanna Steele and myself for a discussion about what makes certain drugs, specifically natural ones, legal/illegal. Kevin drops his knowledge of syzurp, lean and the underground hip-hop drug scene.
We also eventually get into the main topic of the day: HACKERS! Not the cheesy 90s movie but the movement of individuals who can gain unprecedented access to our lives as we become more and more enmeshed in the cloud. We discuss the good,
the bad and the impact on our lives.

This was a great show and I had fun getting back into the old format. I hope you enjoy!

  • WWI #42: Former NFL Player and B Horror Movie Super Hero Ron Fazio
Ron is a fellow PA and has been a friend of the family for many years. One day we discovered he had a secret former life in pro football that brought him face to face with NFL legends like Ed "Too Tall" Jones and Coach Tom Landry. Injuries (and a few hundredths of a seconds in speed) landed him in NFL limbo so he did what any of us would do and became a cult B-Horror movie star!
Ron's story proves the point that everyone has a good story to tell, you just have to know how to ask. This was a fun show to record and Ron is a great story teller. I hope you enjoy!

  • WWI #41 Author/USSS Agent John Taylor & former NY Prosecutor/Defender Frank Constantine

    This week we dive
into the world of crime and punishment by examining everyone's
favorite true crime, “Making a Murderer”, with former NY
prosecuting attorney Frank Constantine and former law enforcement
    officer/author John Taylor. This show
was very interesting to record and it was interesting to learn about how a lawyer would approach this infamous crime. We ask Mr. Constantine the burning questions we all have for lawyers; How do they defend criminals with good conscience? How do you defend a person you don't believe?
John Taylor is a great guest and hosts his own podcast over at www.twistedpodcast.com. His books can be found at Amazon.

  • WWI #40: Mike and Savanna return for the good ‘ol days of back porch waxing philosophical about Bitcoin, futurism, life and happiness.

    Paul Rudd said it
best, “When life deals you lemons, f#ck the lemons and bail!” Savanna went remote and interviewed a Bitcoin
expert and emailed me the files so I could incorporate them into a
live broadcast. It was planned so well and executed to perfection and the show was going to be cool and informative... Well, none of that worked out so we ended up just “winging”
it! This is how all the shows used to be back in the good 'ol days and part of me wants to get back to this format. Good for some laughs (bad for my liver).
Mike returns for some whiskey and philosophizing. Savanna takes us to
school about the future of our economy with virtual money. I wish we
did more of these shows because their fun and unintentionally funny!

  • WWI #39: Pete Van Dyk creator/host of Live From the Dutch Hall talks about going from banker to entertainer.

     This was a really
fun episode to record with rising star Pete Van Dyk creator and host
ofLive from the Dutch Hall Podcast. Pete was in a mid-life slump. He
turned 40 and the only thing he was gaining was inches to his
waistline and dissatisfaction with his professional career. So, what
does everyone do whilst in a mid-life crisis? Quit your job and start
a podcasting/stand-up comedy career. We talk about the pitfalls and
successes of starting a podcast, the brutal world of comedy and what
it takes to balance life with the horribly addicting hobby of vomiting your thoughts out for the rest of the world to hear. If your interested in getting
into podcasting, this episode is a must listen. Pete's
success has led him to obtaining a personal bartender, a house band and a cult
following among introverted recluses located in the Canadian
tundra. I tried to bleep out all the cursing but it got too time consuming! Warning explicit language!

  • WWI #38: James Barrat - Author of Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era

James Barrat is a writer, director and producer of documentary films. He is also author of the nonfiction book Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era. Time Magazine named him one of the 5 smartest people who believe AI could bring on the apocalypse and his book was named on of the 8 definitive tech books of 2013 bu Huffington Post.

Mr. Barrat joined me for a frank discussion on how real the negative impacts of AI will be on the future of humanity. He states that the development of this technology should be the most important conversation of the current era and yet we rarely hear of it beyond the novelty of self-driving cars, personal digital assistants (Siri, Echo) and simplified online personal shopping. However, bringing an intelligence online which is smarter than humans drops us down a rung on the hierarchy of life and may lead to our eventual demise... in unpleasant ways.
