Jacob has finally left his father-in-law Laban. However, he still has one more encounter to go through before he is completely done with Laban. God will intervene and make sure that this is their last encounter. God in all of this has provided Jacob with protection and blessing.

Jacob's time in the school of faith, under the tutelage of Laban has prepared him for his next lesson. He is now prepared to become Israel. His becoming Israel will only happen as he encounters God. One lesson has ended, a new one now begins.

In this study we will take thorough look into the foundation that we have in Jesus Christ and His word.

We know who we were before Christ, and we know who we now are in Christ. But before we are built up as His church, we must first understand the foundation that God is building upon.

Everything rises and falls on the foundation we have in Jesus and His word. For us who are in Christ, living in obedience to His word under His Lordship is non-negotiable. When we live on this solid foundation, we can rest assured that nothing will separate us from the love of God that we have in Christ. We will be all that God has called us to be to His glory.

God is moving in Jacob's heart. It is time for him to return home. However, he enters into a new deal with Laban that delays his return. It is a deal that has the favor of God written all over it. Through this deal God brings great prosperity to Jacob.

In the process of Jacob growing in wealth, Laban is losing wealth. This creates an uncomfortable situation as Laban and his sons grow envious of Jacob. The atmosphere grows so bad that Jacob now must leave.

Jacob is leaving the classroom of Laban; however, he is still in the school of faith. Much work remains to be accomplished in Jacob in order that he will one day become Israel.

Paul now transitions from the individual to the church. Paul lays out all that we as the body of Christ have in Christ. We have been brought near by the blood of Jesus. Through the work of Christ in the cross, we have peace and unity. It is through the finished work of Jesus at Calvary that both the Jew and Gentile have become one to the glory of the Father. All of this in Christ.

It is beyond our ability to comprehend all that God would do in us and through us as the church, if we would simply surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. May we all live in surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and live in sold out obedience to His word. Who knows what God might do?

Jacob continues in the school of faith. In this study we will see the growth of his family. This growth is rather interesting but is most certainly under the sovereignty of God. Jacob ends up with four wives and eleven sons.

All the while, Jacob remains in the school of faith. God continues to patiently work in Jacob in order that Jacob will ultimately become Israel.

Many enter God's school of faith, but none are ever simply a pawn in this school. God will patiently, lovingly work in us in order that we would become all that He has called us to for His glory alone.

We now conclude this passage as we continue to look deeply into all that God has done for us in His Son Christ Jesus.

We were so horribly lost and without hope. But God! But God poured out all the riches of His mercy and love because of His great love and wonderfully saved us. God has made us alive, raised us up and seated us in heavenly places in Christ. God has made us a masterpiece through whom He will work to His glory alone.

We have so much to be thankful for. We have so much to live for. We have so much to look forward to. We, as the faithful in Christ Jesus, have every reason to be living fully for Jesus!

Jacob now leaves Bethel heading to his uncle Laban where he will enter the school of faith. If not for Bethel, Jacob would not be prepared to enter God's required curriculum for becoming the man that God has called him to be.

Laban, as we will see is a conniver and deceiver. His masterful at scheming and trickery. Jacob possesses all that Laban is. However, Jacob will never be the man that God has called him to be until his conniving, scheming and deceitful ways are removed. Laban is the tool that God will use to make Jacob into the man he has been called to be.

The lessons we are about to encounter are powerful. There is much for us all to learn as we begin to look at the next several decades in the life of Jacob.

This past week, a dear friend and family member died unexpectedly. It was important that we take the time to minister to our family in this time of need. Therefore, we were not able to do our studies in Ephesians and Genesis. However, next week, Lord willing we will be sending out new studies in these great books.

What I do want to send out is a replay of a message that we posted on Sunday, December 18th. It is a message from the Old Testament that gives a great presentation of the gospel. God graciously allowed me to share this message with my dear friend and family member before the Lord took him. The Lord provided a prepared heart and an open door. How I pray that God brought the increase. It is my prayer that we will have a great re-union in the not-so-distant future.

I wanted to share this message with you in hopes that God would put it on your heart to share it with someone who needs God's great salvation through His Son Jesus. May God prepare a heart and open a door to share the glorious gospel of His great salvation.

In the previous chapter we saw God's amazing eternal plan for those who are faithful in Christ Jesus. We saw the great riches that we have so abundantly in Christ. We saw how those who are faithful in Christ Jesus will all be brought under Jesus who is the head of the Church.

Now we will see the execution of God's plan. Paul will now show us all, what we were prior to Christ. Who we are now in Christ. And who we will be in Christ.

"What a miracle of God's grace! We are taken out of the graveyard of sin and placed in the throne room of glory." Warren Wiersbe

Jacob has left home and will now begin a long journey that will lead him to the school of faith. Jabob is being separated from his home, his mother, his father and his brother Esau. All so that God can remove all the things that are hinderance to him becoming Israel.

Separation brings us into the school room of faith. Brokenness is the teacher that removes all that we love so dearly in order that we can become the man that God has called us to be. Separation and brokenness are the key ingredients to growth in the Lord
