Honestly an insane episode, I was frankly banging my head into my steering wheel hearing this and you should be too.

I think our listeners get the most out of episodes when there's high emotions and explicit blind spots and this episode is exactly that. The guys delve into a conversation about the rigidity of their schedules and who they're willing to make exceptions for while discussing the possibility of shifting the podcast recording time up to Saturday 9:30 AM. Before the recording started, John and Austin we're on the same page of my 9 AM recording time improving their schedules and Amer insisted that it was a conflict against the time he needs to manage his health. In the first 10 minutes of the episode, Austin and makes a shout that he credits Amer for his diligence in protecting this time as a contribution to his business and John SHOCKINGLY... DISAGREES!!...

“Everything in his life was geared for him being a fighter. He even had 2 older brothers who were NFL players. He didn’t have to take it seriously to kick everyone’s ass. And like this, he learned all the wrong lessons. He wasn’t showing up to practice, doing cocaine, and it was clear the demon had taken over. He was operating inside this demon and was still dominating everyone. At one point, he had this fear dawn on him… ‘if I leave this demon, do I give up what I’ve accomplished? When somebody’s getting on boarded onto your team there’s often a balance of 20% discipline and 80% management.Amer reflects that his team is now in a place where it takes 20% management and 80% discipline. In 2022, Austin has taken on a heap of responsibility, running his own business, coaching 8 other businesses at the same time, being new to the roofing industry etc. And during this time he has realized that he has clear preferences for certain tasks, especially when they’re in his strengths. However, his default to say yes to offers from others has resulted in him feeling stuck in situations where he just hadn’t thought out the nuisances that he would run into. On the journey to becoming a man you may even notice in yourself that as you shed the desire to satisfy any of these things, you begin feeling a sense of fulfillment by taking care of your loved ones who depend on you, supporting the weak, and being grateful for your own strength.

In this weeks podcast, Amer shares about how his trip to Jordan has changed his religious perspective. He comes to an understanding that everything that he has learned about his religion and being Muslim has come from the Jordanian people in his life. Visiting the country again as an adult, where he has built a much stronger understanding of human behaviour and cognitive biases, has given him an additional lens to challenge certain beliefs he’s held for majority of his life. When Austin finally stop struggling with his third world Wi-Fi in Punta Cana, he later joined the call and shared his newfound awareness of his energy levels working with Cam Russelle, aka “Big Daddy Cam” to the Patreon squad 🤪 Austin brought up an example on where his body has started becoming intolerant to processed sugars - over the holidays he used to “have an absolute yard sale” over Christmas cookies but found more recently that he was only able to have a few and still noticed a significant drop in his energy. His first reaction was to become spiteful to his new healthy lifestyle because he no longer has a tolerance for all the indulgent treasures he once knew. Eventually Austin realized that this was a blessing to be able to feel so energized when he did feel his body properly, that he could recognize what a drastic drop even felt like. John points out that when you’re operating at your lowest energy levels, it may just not be noticeable to you when there’s a shift from 5% or 6% or 7%.
