Nick is alone in the basement this week, hanging out with Ryan and Nick from Fueled by Hops. We start off with talking about Fueled By Hops festivals. We dive right into the Best Brunch Ever festival and Ryan’s new found love for bacon. After we cap off the Best Brunch Ever talk, we dive completely into Coven Brewing and then we spend way too much time talking about The Answer brewing. Other Nick tells us about his experience at Mekong in Sandusky, Ohio. CLAG brewing in Sandusky is another cousin of An from the Answer. We devolve into our podcast ideology and then we stretch out to free festivals and the pay as you go events with multiple breweries sharing like beers. Episode 165 : A Super Hitchhiker Lager Food Bowl

Nick and Sara are back in the basement! We start off with an Old Thunder anniversary beer and their Celebration of PA Lager! Nick is schooled on feminism by Sara. We discuss the styles and the weird offerings that came with a celebration of lagers. We delve into the idea of the “free festival” model for these types of events. @beerscovery put on the “Too Hot for the Gram” event and we jump into the idea behind this whole “show up and enjoy new breweries” type event. We talk about Logger Jam at Allegheny City! We move into our newest segment : The Pittsburgh Brewery Guide Exploration Segment! Hitchhiker is up first! We dive full on into Hitchhiker Brewing and cover the history and offerings they bring to the table in Pittsburgh. After our review of Hitchhiker, we move into the Super Bowl conversation and so we decided to cover some events for Valentine’s day and our favorite foods for American Football Sunday! Sara gives her stamp of approval to Gussy’s bagels. Sara goes down her list of Super Bowl foods and nails the dips. Nick leans hard into the sandwich Super Bowl food snacks.

Nick and Sara return! We’ve got a bunch of stuff to talk about and we start off with bitching about winter. After that, we move into our question of the week. We answer the question “what dead celebrity are you drinking craft beer with?” We had a lot of fun with this question and we wanna know who you’re drinking with and what you’re drinking too! Nick shouts out @pintsandpanels for providing some knowledge. After the dead celeb convo, we rave about Golden Age Beer and their new spot in Homestead. Next up we send off Roundabout’s taproom in Lawrenceville. At the end of this episode Nick and Sara bring you everything we know about Best Brunch Ever, a @Fueledbyhops_ beer fest. Sara gets crazy excited about Prototype coming back to Pittsburgh for this festival. Episode 163 : The Beerly Week Year 2021

Nick and Sara are in the basement talking about the year 2021. We dive right into beers as Nick drinks the BAPF (Big Ass Pallet Fire) by Voodoo and Bottle Logic. Nick doubles down on False Kingdom being his IPA of the year. Sara keeps her best beers as the recent ones. Her stand out was Prototype’s sour beer from Drink the Cookie Table which we can’t remember the name of. We take a trip down memory lane and recap Nick’s first beer of 2021 and talk more about Voodoo. Sara and Nick re-cap our guests of the year and what we learned. Sara tells a 2 sentence horror story about dropping wax bottles of beer. We praise StuntPig for their delicious food at Old Thunder’s Anniversary party. Obviously we mention Bridge City Brinery. Nick claims his top beer of 2021 is Other Half’s Wangies based on taste and name. Episode 161 : Coven Brewing

Nick welcomes the crew of the newly announced Coven Brewing to the podcast. Caiti and Trevor are branching out on their own with Coven Brewing and we start off by drinking a beer Caiti brewed as kind of a start to Coven. Trevor and Caiti expand on what Coven will be and how they came to be moving into the Roundabout Brewery space. Episode 160 : Thicc Bois Glass

Nick is joined this week by Logan from Thicc Bois Glass (@thiccboisglass on instagram) to nerd about one of his favorite parts of the beer industry, glassware! We start off by talking about his involvement in the Drink The Cookie Table event and the collabs with Tattered Flag. Logan gets into how to make the glassware that he sells and gives us a look at the process. After the education about the glassblowing process we get into Logan’s history and how he got started in the glassware game. Episode 159 : Mondays Brewing with Sam

Nick and Sara went across a bridge and through a tunnel to Mondays Brewing to hang out with owner Sam. We start with Sam’s history with craft beer and his day job, Modern Day Indiana Jones. We talk about the business of craft beer and Nick immediately asks Sam about dumping beer. This leads us to radioactive beer and super heroes. We discuss the finer points of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series and a bit about Marvel (TM). After we crack our first beer, Sam gets into why the draft list is a little short right now and we talk about the 1 year anniversary over Halloween weekend.
