Nick and Tyler continue their content train with more goofy stuff. Nick talks about his Gilmore Girls podcast idea and Tyler wants in. Nick teaches Tyler about Supernatural. Tyler explains the phenomenon of Friday Night Lights. Scrubs is up next as Nick and Tyler remember the soundtrack and how bastardized the replacement music is. We spend a lot of time loving on Scrubs. Tyler mentions his favorite movie, Garden State and we talk about Zach Braff for a while. Episode 157 : Tyler Returns

Nick welcomes Tyler from @creeksidebeer back to the pod. We kick off by talking some Fueled By Hops and internet group love. Sara cuts in and we reminisce about the closing of Dancing Gnome’s 925 Main St. taproom. Nick drops the secret Tuesday soft open news (much after the fact since this episode is late to post) and we discuss the new place at 1025. Sara teases our political podcast (Tuesdays at 2pm) and we continue to discuss the future of Dancing Gnome. After the DG celebration, we get into the Rocky Horror Picture Show and our opinions. We spin off movies into music for a while. Tyler and Nick talk about sharing beers. From there, we shift to Fueled By Hops Drink The Cookie Table event and this conversation goes off the rails but we talk about the beer that we’re looking forward to. Nick runs down the collab list for the fest. The collab list sends us down the breakfast food rabbit hole and we rank our favorite breakfast bread foods (French toast, waffles or pancakes.) Episode 156 : The Douche Is Back

Nick welcomes The @pghbeerdouche (Mike) back to the pod! We start up this episode with talking about beer in the family. Mike turns around the Weekly Re-cap style and asks what I’m drinking! This launches a conversation on the local fare of the season with Marzen/Festbier/Oktoberfest style beers. Mike tells his story of Bolxtoberfest at Old Thunder. Mike got recognized for being the Douche while he was there. After Bloxtoberfest, they went to Inner Groove’s Pumpkinfest. Nick re-caps his Sunday adventures before the Steeler game. At Four Points, Sara shared a story about how her mom found a beer recipe from 1924. (This recipe turned out to be a generic “how to brew beer” instead of an actual ingredient based beer.) As the recipe spawned a discussion about “dead beer styles” we obviously talk about Necromancer. This leads us to discuss Brave Noise again and we talk about some of the news of the week around MBCC and Mikkeller beer and their handling of the allegations of misconduct. Episode 155 : Three Rivers Beer Week

Nick is back, all by himself. But he did bring a friend this week. The ever-entertaining @hellobrewtifulpgh Jen! We collab on our re-cap of Three Rivers Beer week, which between the both of us, we made it a TON of events. We start with the kick off event and the Permanent Hangover glassware. Nick tells the traumatizing story of why he hates Titanic. We discuss James Cameron’s filmography and how we grew up watching fucked up shit. After that, Nick and Jen start our review of #TRBW. We talk about the strange choice of releasing 476 Pale Ale with Ashville Brewers Guild in conjunction with TRBW and this leads to us discussing collaboration and what it means to the industry. As we move into the beer week events, we start with the happy hour before TRBW even happened. Then we cover the First Pour event, which we felt was an amazing time and really a way to get some face time with the brewery owners and brewers in a casual environment. We expand on our experience with the beer industry and how we approach supporting our friends as “influencers” in our position. Jen expands on Bloxtoberfest and the Inner Groove Pumpkinfest. Nick had problems with getting to the events on Thursday and so did Jen. Nick makes an inappropriate joke and then follows it up with making everyone aware of the Brave Noise movement and Jen chimes in on what the Brave Noise collab is to the craft beer industry. We touch on the Pittsburgh Craft Beer Diversity Council. Jen fills us in on the new Hop Farm Brewery. Saturday is up next. We ended up meeting up at the Lincoln Ave Brewery Oktoberfest and we spent some time discussing it. The end of the episode brings us to the Allegheny 6 Pack event. Episode 154 : The Sara Show Part 2!

Nick welcomes Sara back to the podcast due to Alex’s extended hiatus. Sara kicks us off by talking about her trip to Chicago for a work conference. Lots of Zombie Dust and touristy stuff on down time made Sara explore the local beer distributors to bring home stuff. She told us the story of Spin, the ping pong place. Chewiee makes an entrance and can’t stop sniffing the microphone. Sara brought home 18th Street, Hop Butcher, and Half Acre beers. They were all especially good. Episode 152 : Snacks and Stuff

Nick and Alex are back. Nick springs a topic on Alex to start. We debate what snack food is the equivalent to the beer you’re drinking. We kind of snake draft this one and it’s a bit all over the place, but we have good insights. We cover flavored chips, beef jerky, and pretzels to name a few. Episode 151 : The Sara Show!

Nick and Sara sit down this week and drink! We talk about Friday the 13th and scary movies. We try not to steal too much thunder from Halloween is Forever. Sara recounts her scariest movies of her childhood, including Poltergeist and The Ring. Nick brings up The Faculty as a horror movie for some reason? After we talk about X-Files, we transistion back to beer. For TIPA Thursday Nick is drinking the Four Points 4.3 anniversary Triple IPA. We re-cap our week at Wigle whisky on Thursday, followed by the Necromancer x Millie’s collab on Friday night. Coffee ice cream and an oatmeal stout were the perfect pairing, according to Nick. Both Nick and Sara love Necromancer’s beer. Saturday was a low key night, but we made up for it on Sunday with an exciting day of visiting a bunch of breweries! Necromancer was first (with a little tour from Scottro) and the Wild Child pop up brunch, along with the Fueled by Hops giveaway from Sunday. Next on the list was Voodoo Homestead for the Zangief bottle pick up and a draft. After that, we obviously hit Dancing Gnome. Then finally, we went grocery shopping. After that we stopped at Four Points taproom before heading home. For dinner we went back out to Eleventh Hour to track down The Boonseek. We talk about our upcoming events and what’s going on. We talk about Barrel and Flow taking a hard stand on COVID protocols. We wrap with plugging the upcoming festivals and then revisit the Friday the 13th movies to finish off episode 151.

Episode 150 : Kids In Breweries

Nick and Alex keep the beers flowing with this week’s episode. We start by covering the conversation about fall beers such as pumpkin beers and Octoberfest/harvest beers. We talk Pumking and Alex gives his favorite vibes for drinking fall beers. We talk about Dancing Gnome’s tap list and some upcoming releases. Nick talks about running into Sydney from 412 Brewing. After the intro, we jump into the kids at breweries based on the opening of Lovedraft’s Craft Beer in Mechanicsburg, PA. Nick loses his mind for a bit and tells some bad jokes, and then we continue to explore the opinions and both sides of the kids at a brewery argument. Nick gets fired up again after discussing some of the more subtle meaning behind the “no kids at breweries” rules. Alex expresses his concerns with kids being at the brewery. We both agree that breweries are not a place for kids and we also believe that we don’t hate kids, but we might hate kids. As we wrap, Nick moves into the positive things in craft beer coming up! Barrel And Flow Fest is coming up in September at South Side Works! Nick is pissed he’s gonna be out of town that weekend! Then we plug Drink the Cookie Table from Fueled By Hops on November 6th.

Episode 149 : Nick’s Finger Lakes Adventure

Nick and Alex sit down to re-cap Nick’s trip to the Finger Lakes and a bunch of other stuff. To start off this episode we talk about sequels, prequels and reboots! Yeah, we’re talking about the Ghostbusters Afterlife trailer. If you haven’t seen it, mild spoilers ahead. After about 20 minutes of movie talk, Nick shares that we made the top 10 podcasts in the Best of Pittsburgh from Pittsburgh City Paper! We talk about what beers we’re drinking before Nick gets into his vacation re-cap. Alex name drops a bunch of breweries from his Christmas In July party. Nick gets into his vacation and starts by telling the story of Frequentem Brewing and the pizza. Nick and Sara hit Watkins Glen and then the star of the trip Other Half Finger Lakes. So nice, they visited twice. Once on Friday and then back again on Saturday before heading home. All this Other Half beer didn’t stop them from stopping at the monster that is Mortalis brewing. Next week is National IPA day. Its August 5th, not August 4th, like Nick said on the episode. Alex is going to Drag Bingo at Couch Brewing.
