  • Bunnahabhain Battle : Stiùireadair Vs 12 Year + New Comics

Today they are cracking brand new bottles of the Stiùireadair from Bunnahabhain, and put it up against their very popular 12 year old expression.  Does this Non-Age Statement release live up to their core range beauty? You will have to listen to find out!

Our heroes then talk about some new comics that they are currently enjoying (23:30).  Alex talks about the new Star Wars Crossover event 'The War of the Bounty Hunters', and Tim discovered a new comic from indie publisher Vault Comics called 'Barbaric'.

Lastly, they discuss some news from the Comic industry, as a number of writers announced they are joining Substack (36:10).

    Notes from Bunnahabhain:
Stiùireadair; pronounced ‘stew-rahdur’ and means ‘helmsman’ in Scots Gaelic. Natural colour, non-chill filtered and with a brackish, coastal tinge, this sherried malt will transport you to Bunnahabhain Bay, with a smattering of sea spray and dried fruit lingering on your lips.

  • Masters of the Universe: Revelation + Kaiyō Peated Review

Tim starts off the show with an instant reaction to The Masters of the Universe: Revelation Trailer for the upcoming Netflix Animated Series by Executive Producer Kevin Smith, gives a quick preview of what's coming up next week (5:20) before Alex gives a special Lake Side Neck Pour Session featuring the Kaiyō Peated Expression (6:05).

    Notes from Kaiyō:
Kaiyō whisky is matured in the finest Japanese Mizunara oak casks. These casks are handmade due to Mizunara oak’s delicate wood grain. They are among the rarest casks in the world and are considered the finest in which to mature whisky. After years of maturing our casks go on a final maturation at sea voyage for up to 3 months, leaving from Osaka Japan.

  • Ardbeg - Wee Beastie Review

Last week we tasted a Peated Speyside, now it's time for the real thing.

    Ardbeg - Wee Beastie

Is this their answer to the highly sought after Octomore from their Islay companion Bruichladdich?

Make you subscribe to keep up to date with all of our content, and head on over to our website : www.thewhiskeygeeks.com and read our articles where we pair Whisk(e)y and Comic Books.

    Notes from Ardbeg:
    IT’S A MONSTER OF A DRAM

Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the latest permanent expression to join the Distillery’s Ultimate Range. At just five years old, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste.

    SOMETHING BIG AND SMOKY…

Our whisky creators set out to make the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg ever. The result is Ardbeg Wee Beastie and this tongue-tingling, beautifully smoky dram is the youngest Ardbeg we’ve ever made.

On the snout, intense aromas of cracked blacked pepper mingle with sappy pine resin and a sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, an explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. Savoury meats sink into the palate before the long salty mouthcoating finish slinks away… revealing the inner beast of this Islay icon.

Young and intensely smoky, this is a dram untamed by age. Matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, Wee Beastie is perfect for enjoying neat or as the mouth-watering main ingredient in a powerfully smoky cocktail.

    Non chill-filtered at 47.4%.

    Notes from The Balvenie:
Eager to experiment with The Balvenie profile using what he had learnt from a recent trip to Islay, distillery manager Ian Millar ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln. For a week a year, The Balvenie distills a batch of peated malt, resulting in a whisky rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes with an extra layer of delicate smokiness.

Notes from Lagavulin: A dram dedicated to actor Nick Offerman, from the hit TV show Parks and Recreation. Deep gold in colour; striking aromas and flavours of citrus, peat smoke, dried fruit and raw almonds; bottled at 46% ABV it is bold and smoky with a long-lasting finish. Serve with smoked trout or as an after-dinner delight.
