Did you know that 91% of women are displeased with their bodies? An eating disorder displays behaviors that negatively impact one's physical, psychological, and social well-being. These behaviors are persistent, and they are often associated with emotional distress.
In honor of Eating Disorder Awareness Week, I sat down with Lex Daddio to discuss eating disorders and her recovery from orthorexia. Orthorexia is a dysfunctional eating pattern based on the need to eat healthy foods to the extent that one becomes obsessed with this way of life.
Lex Daddio is a wife & mama of 2 little boys living in Richmond, VA. She's been the face behind @daddioskitchen (previously @restoring_radiance) for almost eight years. Her Instagram page began as a food diary when she struggled with an eating disorder. It led to a journey of healing, lots of new life transitions, and now it's a place where she and her husband share lots of fun recipes and real life. Her husband Thomas cooks and Lex bakes, and together they create delicious recipes to feed their family and yours!

Everyone is on their healing journey that involves recovery from traumatic experiences or elements that may be related to how one deals with conflict. Cultural differences, gender biases, socio-economic factors, and family of origin – all play a role in developing our conflict resolution style.
Conflict is a part of everyday living and necessary for growth. Conflict can be a source of adding new value and meaning to any relationship if handled healthily. . During the healing process, engaging with the pain (that a conflict may trigger) instead of avoiding it would be beneficial. Having a genuine conflict resolution style instead of compromise is essential to committed relationships and enhances the relationship's quality.
Reconciliation is possible. However, the choice is ours to select a healthy and intentional path to resolve conflict. Discussing conflict is constructive and provides a positive opportunity for understanding and growth.
In this episode of the WHoly Mom Chat, Jenny sits down with Dr. Jen Ripley to discuss conflict resolution in our relationships, especially marriage. They discuss the L.O.V.E. Method and why forgiveness is so important.
Listen in as we talk to learn more about:
We are all on our own healing journey. We can be instruments of peace, joy, and support to each other while we process healing together. May we seek the help we need to choose restoration, reconciliation, and healing over violence, avoidance, brokenness, and living in survival mode.
Jennifer Ripley, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Virginia and is a Professor at Regent University. She promotes healthy families in church communities around the world. Ripley is an extrovert who thrives on relationships with students and colleagues. She also loves a good theology discussion, wrestling with some of the most challenging issues in Christian integration today, meditative prayer, and analyzing data.

Quite simply, it refers to ditching dieting culture and restrictive diets by permitting yourself to enjoy all foods in moderation (unless you have medical needs or allergies that prevent you). Sylvia’s whole life changed when her young son, Brandon, was diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism called metatropic dysplasia at the age of two.
In this episode of the WHoly Mom Chat, Jenny talks to Sylvia Farbstein, Brandon’s mom, branding strategist, and sought-after speaker. We talk about the importance of modeling positive behavior, growth opportunities in our education system, and how we can help our children to become independent adults.
Listen in to learn more about:
Sylvia Farbstein has spent the last 2 decades learning how life presents us with unexpected twists and turns that can shake us to our core and stop us in our tracks. It is a matter of having a growth mindset, one that she adapted, to utilize the challenges as a catalyst for an exciting change.
Her professional world took a leap from the predictable and defined realm of private banking in New York City to one of few answers and no blueprint when her son, 21-year-old Brandon, was diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism at the age of 2. Their experiences navigating a world not built for somebody like him prompted them to seek out ways to neither be confined nor defined by limitations, perceived or otherwise. This has led to an entrepreneurial career path for both mother and son that has impacted millions of lives. Sylvia is passionate as a speaker to share ways to embrace uncertainty with a sense of curiosity rather than getting stuck in fear.
