The Wicked Library

This time The Librarian sends Frank on a caper to foreign shores where he gets a taste of magical beasties he’s never even heard of before - Cairo!  In that city teeming with ancient magics Frank comes face to face with a jinn, scads of them, including an old friend of The Librarian’s. Frank finds himself blindfolded and marched at sword point out into the desert where he meets a thoroughly revolting congregation of miscreants and the pernicious tome they worship. He was told by the jinn that its nefarious author was long dead these many centuries, but can one ever be certain of anything where the jinn are concerned. Ever heard of the Necronomicon?

Kerri Kusa anticipated receiving daily emails from her best friend while Kimberly was in the UK on a business trip, but she never expected those emails to shed light on the suicide of a young girl, the murder of one of Kerri’s former coworkers, and the eventual disappearance of Kimberly herself. Besides the ever more foreboding chain of emails, there is one additional clue Kimberly left behind: an otherworldly broach, described as having been used in a séance meant to conjure the spirit of a woman, Helena, whose past is mired in murder and revenge.

It was a simple enough task for former Texas Ranger Tom Wall; bring back the target dead or alive. As it happens, dead was the easy option, but the decision to relax for a change and enjoy the company of a beautiful woman turns out to have terrifying results. It's part Western, part romance and straight up horror in the short story that spawned the novel SPIDERS IN THE DAFFODILS.

It's time for another quarterly Extra Wicked Anthology Episode! Today we bring you three great tales from the darker side of things. Supporters of the show at the $5 a month and above level hear these stories first at the rate of one a month. Later (once a quarter), the stories are compiled and shared with the entire audience to help promote the work of the authors, composers and voice actors.

1. "A Little Light Gets In", by Daniel Foytik

This first tale is a story by The Wicked Library's own Daniel Foytik. It originally appeared in the Shadows at The Door written anthology, and is also available on Audible as part of the audio edition of the anthology with 12 other full length stories narrated by Cynthia Lowman and Daniel Foytik.

Karen, has spent her life wondering what happened the night her mother was murdered. Years later, she returns to the small mountain town in Pennsylvania where she grew up armed with special equipment that will allow her to make contact with her mother's spirit. But, in this town, with dark secrets going back to it's earliest days, another entity awaits her arrival and the opportunity to cross into our world.

Storyteller: Cynthia Lowman | Score: Shawn Parke and Kim Henninger of Henninger Parke Music

2. "13", by K. B. Goddard

Tate is a rational Victorian man who does not believe in the supernatural, curses, or other such nonsense - almost arrogantly so.  However, the supernatural does believe in him.

Storyteller: Graham Rowat | Score: Nico Vettese

3. "At the Top of Her Lungs", by Cory Mason

A woman struggles to return to her daily routine after complications from surgery leave her vocal cords permanently damaged. Will help ever come, if no one can hear you scream?

Storytellers: Heather Thomas, Narrator | Nelson W. Pyles, Attacker | Score: Nico Vettese

Voice of the Librarian: Nelson W. Pyles | Artwork: Alex J. Murd | Host / Producer / Showrunner: Daniel Foytik | Executive Producers: Cynthia Lowman, Nelson W. Pyles

t’s been a while since Frank Enfield has seen The Librarian. So, Frank has been spending his time seeing Brenda Ward and holding on to the strange comic book from our last episode. The Librarian told him that a special place would find him – a place where that special tome will be safe. When he meets Victoria from The Lift, he’s in for more than he bargained for. This newest episode sets the stage for a very important journey and introduces us to Mama Cartright!
