  • How to overcome people pleasing to never take No for an answer... Golden advice from Stacie Swift -

Really loved chatting to my lovely friend and insta colleague Stacie Swift in todays episode.

Stacie is a mum of 3 and a very established illustrator and wellbeing advocate, who, by the way has amassed a following of over 270,000 fans on instagram.

Having created a super successful line of greetings cards, wholesaling in recognisable venues like Paperchase and Scribbler, Stacie went on to create a family and to pursue new goals in freelance commissions, and became an author of two self help books and journals.

Her story is inspirational. Stacie reminds us that we should never take no for an answer in business, that resilience and relentless graft, teamed with a tried and tested processes, yields fabulous results, when you give it time.

She also shows us that you can pivot, even when business is doing really well, and that when family priorities change, it's ok to make brave changes in business.

We also learn how showing your vulnerability and leaning into your own heartfelt and sometimes challenging life experiences can create enormous connection with your community and how this can lead to a whole new level of creativity and propel your business in the most unexpected ways.

They always say that working in your area of passion is where you will succeed, and Stacies work resonates and connects so deeply with the audience that it no wonder she thrives in this space.

Stacies illustrations have been shared across the globe virally time and time again. And while all this sounds amazing and glamorous, we also hear about the challenges faced in her journey, how its not always a bed of roses, how mental health takes its toll and why continually showing up for yourself from a self care and business perspective, will pay off.

As mums of three kids, we also get valuable tips from Stacie about how to spend wisely, save money and yet still have a magical Christmas.

It's a great listen, grab a cuppa and settle in.

Loved this conversation and could have gone on for hours.

  • A life time of Endometriosis and Surgical Menopause: The incredible journey of Author and Illustrator Victoria Hardy

This week my fabulous guest is the Ginge Unhinged, Victoria Hardy.

Victoria shares her journey living with severe endometriosis as a teen, the taboo around periods as a child and the lack of support and knowledge at this time in the 90's.

She endured countless operations to remove cysts and eventually her diagnosis at age 19 led Victoria and Mr Ginge to start a family, in their early twenties.

What followed was multiple miscarriages, and premature births, but still the medical knowledge of the condition was limited. After the birth of her two children, the chronic symptoms of endometriosis returned and doctors advised a hysterectomy.

This massive operation, despite its complications did initially seem to resolve all the problems, but very soon depression, anxiety and seriously dark days became the norm.

Victoria's therapist rightly identified that she was experiencing the effects of Surgical Menopause, a little known condition that effects thousands of women across the world for various reasons.

This podcast follows Victoria's journey from her teens to today. In her 40th year around the sun, she has published a fantastic journal documenting her own memoirs: My Menopause, My Journal, My Rules - and in it she invites her readers to journal, release, reflect and take ownership of their own feelings and experiences.

This book is stunning, and hilarious and should be on every womans book pile. If not to bring women experiencing menopause in all its guises together in their knowledge and community, but to educate us all in advance.

  • How to divorce and co-parent amicably with Senior Associate Tina Shah of Neve’s Solicitors

50% of todays marriages end in divorce or separation, which means it's very likely that 50% of my lovely audience and listeners out there are currently in a space of having already separated, or have thoughts and intentions to end their partnership.

Lockdown has caused so much strain on relationships, as we know. And horrifyingly there was a significant increase in domestic violence at this time, which led to a peak in enquiries to family lawyers post covid.

However, Covid aside, Tina and her colleagues have noticed patterns emerging. January, post Christmas, Valentines day and after the summer holidays are all peak times... and I think we know why. Marriage is hard. Living with someone is hard. The financial crisis is hard. Parenting is hard.

And there is no shame in admitting that you might be happier apart, and that actually the whole family could be happier. As Tina says, it's better to have two happy homes than one unhappy home.

This episode faces the reality that separation may be the best option for your relationship and provides tools, tips, advice and solutions for someone looking to take the next stage and consult a lawyer.

We learn that the quickie divorce is a myth, and that you no longer need to wait two years. Also that the Mum is not guaranteed to get the children, but how you can work together to get an optimal outcome for everyone.

This might not be the one for you right now, but the info in this podcast is fabulous and might well be what your friends or family need to hear.

  • The Barbie Movie: How was it for you? Did they address the issues? Did they miss the mark? Or was it good Kenough?

In the height of Barbie-mania, I am joined by fabulous Clare Willets, founder and CEO of Not Only Pink and Blue to discuss the new Barbie film, and it's best and worst points.

From my initial view that the film had moved the needle with regards to gender stereotyping and opened up the issue of patriarchy for all to see, I am now not so sure.

Clare has some incredible points to make in this short bonus episode and I would love to hear your view too?
