Well I was pretty darn close. I guessed 222, and the estimates say Star Wars Last Jedi is at 220m for the weekend. Actuals will go up, I am looking right on the money. Huge opening. I talk depth about it as well as the audience rating scandal with Rotten Tomatoes. I also cover the top 10 and limited releases for Oscar Season.

I am predicting $53,250 per theater so just about 222 million OW. My catholic doubt says sub 200, but I have learned to smother it.

Coco takes it again. A film based on a book about a film being made and turned into a cult classic takes the number 3 spot. Metatastic. Lots of Arthouse films trying to sprout wings and fly into mainstream success. Not gonna happen besides possibly The Shape of Water.

This is a DEEP dive into the failure of Justice League. Unlike the hot takes on Justice League, I try to approach the topic from a more holistic and systemic perspective. Ultimately, Justice League is one of the biggest failures in modern Hollywood (last 30 years). It had more riding on it than just about any movie since 1990, and it failed spectacularly. I take apart what, how, and why. Then I have some suggestions for the future of DCEU. Hint: focus on Wonder Woman.

A very solid Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Amazing drops all around except Justice League, sadface. Coco with a big win. Wonder has broken out tremendously. Three Billboards and Lady Bird are neck and neck for Oscars.

Exciting weekend. Thor has a decent drop. Daddy's Home way overperforms tracking. Murder on the Orient Express overperfroms even more. Lady Bird and Three Billboards are crushing limited release circuit now. Oscar buzz

Feels like a weird weekend. Should be bigger but wont be. Thor will win easily again, but I think it was have a hearty drop. Daddy's Home will probably come in at number 2 and Murder in 3. Tracking for Daddy puts in in low 20s, I think it goes higher. Murder is tracking in high teens, I think it goes higher as well. Limited releases Lady Bird and Three Billboards will duke it out in NYC/LA. Both of them have tons of Oscar buzz already.

Well it happened. Thor crushed hard. It broke 120m. Crazy! It beat Spider-Man. Who would have thought. Long discussion on how and why Thor did so well. Bad Moms Xmas did not do well. It failed to capture the spark of the original. Bad movie, bad marketing equals poor performance. Lady Bird is winner at the arthouse but I don't see it burning up Omaha.
