Big weekend. Thor should easily break 100m opening weekend, but by how much. Some are saying 120, I am saying less than 110. Scandalous. Bad Moms Xmas opens tonight, projections are lower than the original. That doesn't make much sense considering the original was a WOM breakout. I am saying low to mid 30s for 5-day. Crazy I know.

What a weird weekend. Jigsaw essentially ends the Saw reboot by failing to break 20m. Thank You gets sub $2,000 per theater. Suburbicon is a massive flop even though it had almost no expectations. Thor save us all!

I cover the new releases this weekend. Super long rant on Regal's new plan to offer dynamic pricing for movies. Now Showing The Last Jed $80, Geostorm $3. Can it work?

Lots of openers, lots of losers. Boo 2 was the only new opener to do decent. The rest were losers. Blade Runner continues is flop, Happy Death Day has a big drop, but ok for youth horror film. It is coasting to mid 340 million. All of the art films were non starters. Tough weekend for industry. "You see Mindhunters on Netflix?" is the theme of this weekend.

Well we are on the worst timeline. Blade Runner 2049 massively flops this weekend. Worst case scenario. Studios will lose over 100 million maybe a lot more. Total disaster for BR, sci fi, and intellectual wide releases. Expect more Comic Book movies for the next few. At least they turn a profit.

I walk through this week's openers. I am thinking 11.8 million for American Made and about 6 million for Flatliners. Not great. Kingsman should take number one again, then It, then American, and then Lego. I also talk about a new article in Variety that details why theater owners are shaking in their boots. Studios should be the scared, not theater owners.
