When it comes to building a life of freedom and owning and running a lifestyle business, there are a few things that must be understood, before choosing what business to start, what products to sell and how to structure your business.

This episode is dedicated to the freedom-lovers!  For those of you who want to own a business that you can run from anywhere in the world, one that gives you the freedom to choose your hours and make money without the need of your physical presence.

In this episode of the Wild Woman Run Free podcast, I’ll teach you the one thing that I learned, that changed my views on how to make money. This understanding, totally changed the way I set my goals in business and in life and without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today. 

For me, living a fulfilling and meaningful life, is when you have the freedom to do anything that you want to do, without any restrictions. So today, I want to take you through the difference between earning active income vs earning passive income and how starting out with this knowledge, can set you up to plan a business that fits in with your life and your ultimate goals. This crucial knowledge, can affect the type of business model you choose, the products and services that you want to sell, the way that you market, even to the way that you build your teams.

I’ll tell you a little story… about 6 years ago, I was working in a corporate environment, stressed, I worked long hours and spent at least 3 hours getting to and from work door to door. Not only that, I had to deal with office politics and I wasn’t doing what I loved.

Two things changed for me around this time. The first major thing, was that I was pregnant with my first baby and I realised that I didn’t want this life anymore! I knew in my heart that I wanted to be there for my little one, and the thought of leaving her at 6am and coming home at 8pm in the evening, was non-negotiable.

But I also knew, that I’m not the type of person to completely let go working all together. I had so many skills under my belt and I knew I also wanted to contribute and keep learning…

So I started to look into starting my own business.

The one main priority for me though, was that I wanted to start a business that didn’t require my physical presence all the time, one that I could do around my family and one that has the potential to make uncapped income.

Now at the time, I didn’t really know what passive income was. You hear about it on occasion, but it wasn’t explained to me, until I went in search for some business ideas. And what I learnt stoked the fire in my soul and I’ve never looked back since.

So today, I want to explain to you the simple way of how I learnt the difference between earning a traditional active income vs earning a passive income. And why passive income, in my mind trumps everything!

Ok so what is active income?

Active income, is income that you make while trading time for money.

I’ll give you an example… my mum used to be a registered nurse. She worked close to 50 hours a week and she got paid a capped income from her employer.

Throughout her time there, she accumulated holidays and a certain amount of sick leave, like we all do in a traditional job. The disadvantage that my mum had however, was that she was never able to take time off to follow her passion of travelling. She would dream about travelling Europe for an extended period…...

So why is a business brand so important?

Think of your business brand as the face of your business. It epitomises everything about you, who you are and what you stand for. Your brand is what makes your customer connect emotionally to your business.

The way it looks makes a difference, the way it makes them feel… and the whole purpose of the brand, is to attract and be loved by loyal customers.

The brand is one of the most vital and invaluable aspects of a business and when you have a good brand, it will reflect on the way you build your business, from the marketing, to the website, to the customer service and to the way you deliver or package your products or your service.

So if you’re thinking about starting a new business or rebranding your current business, take some time to really work on what your brand is. Because when you get it right, you can really make a profound impact.

So now that we’ve covered how important a brand is…

What are the top items we need to consider when designing your brand?

First and foremost, how do you want to position yourself in the market? You have the option of selling cheaper than everyone else in the market to having a premium brand.

But in saying that, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend going out there with a cheap brand. Because if you do, there will always be someone out there who can go cheaper than you. And not only that, you’ll end up running yourself into the ground to compete against all the others.

And the customers that you’ll attract with this kind of business model, will be the type of customer who has lack mentality and in the end they end up being more of a problem for you.

But hey that’s my opinion anyway. If that’s the way you want to go about it, then go for it and good luck to you!

In saying that though, there are many people out there who would pay for the quality. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of shifting your mindset, believing that what you can offer is different and of the highest quality and pricing it at exactly that. So it’s really up to you how you want to position your brand.

But once you decide on how you want to position, then you can get down into the fun part! The design!

And this is the bit that I love!

If you don’t have any idea where to start with this, it’s time to tap into you and what lights you up!

The best way to collate your thoughts is to go out there and take a look at some other brands too. What brands do you love? What kind of colours are they using? What kind of imagery? How do they make you feel? How do you feel when you’re interacting with this brand? Start with the ones you love and write out why you love these particular brands.

Next, write down what you want your customers to feel when they are interacting with your brand. What colours light you up?

Today we are going to talk about a topic that inspires me to the depths of my soul.

That’s a pretty big call huh? Well it’s true.

And the topic today, is why I believe YOU should get inspired to start YOUR own business!

Most of us have been brought up in a society where we had to go to school, get good grades and get a good job? Right? But you know what? You don’t have to do that! You do have a choice of doing what you love and having ultimate control of your life.

So if you haven’t considered running your own business, all I can say is keep an opened mind and give it some thought!

Or, if you’ve thought about running your own business, but don’t really know where to start?

All I can say is, don’t give up and don’t think it’s too hard. All you need to do is learn how to do it and before you know it, you’ll be on your way to starting and building a thriving business that you love!

Does that sound good to you?

Ok, so what are the benefits of starting your own business?

Well first of all, you get to sack your boss!

Hey don’t get me wrong, you might have an amazing boss and they may really appreciate you! But, can you imagine how it would feel, if you never had to ask permission to do anything again?

Let’s say you want to go travel around Italy for a few months, wouldn’t it be great, if you could just pack your bags and go, whenever you felt like it?

Or hey, even if your family just want to get a way for the week. How awesome would it be to make the decision and not have to ask anyone for permission? Or even feel guilty for doing so?

Owning your own business can give you that flexibility for sure. Because you own it, YOU’RE THE BOSS! That’s right and the only person you need to answer to IS YOU girlfriend! So if you want to build a life of freedom, look into starting your own business!

 

Ok, another reason why it’s good to have your own business? Is TIME FREEDOM baby!

When you’re the boss, you don’t have to work on someone else’s time. You can work anytime you want. You can schedule your work hours around your kids, or during the times when you feel most productive.

You may want to work in the evenings, or better yet, you may only want to work 4 days a week if you want to.

The beautiful thing about owning your own business, is that YOU determine your own hours! If you don’t want to work on your birthday? You don’t have to! If you don’t want to work because your kids want to go to the beach? You don’t have to either! You want start your day doing Yoga? You can do that too!

You can’t get time freedom in a job, unless it’s part of the culture. Most of the time it’s not. So you want time freedom? Start a business!

And what about location freedom? Now this is my favourite! Owning your own business can allow you to work ANYWHERE in the world. (Although you gotta make sure that you build it in a way that can support you working from your laptop.)

But where there’s a will, there’s always a way. RIGHT?

You want to make money, while on a yacht off the coast of Jamaica? You can do that. You want to make money, while climbing the ruins of a Scottish castle? You can do that too. Another benefit to owning and running your own business.

Imagine what kind of life you’ll have if you had a business that allows you this freedom? Talk about a life of adventure!

Another great thing about owning your own business, is that you can choose to work with whomever you want to work with.

That’s right.

If you want to work by yourself and call the shots? You can be a solopreneur.

If you want to work with a team of people and bounce ideas off each other and leverage eachothers efforts? You can choose the team whom YOU want to work with!

And what’s even better is, that YOU get to choose the clients who are righ...

Law of Attraction.  

We have the power to manifest, to attract and to create whatever our heart desires. We can create anything that we want and the universe can create miracles beyond anything that even we dream possible.  All we need to do is to learn how to connect with our divine self, connect to the universe and place our order.

It’s all up to us.

The moment that we start learning how to tap into the power of the universe, we can create miracles beyond anything we could ever think is possible.

Miracles occur every single day, every single hour, every single minute, every single second.

We need only to open ourselves up to having your own miracle occur.

Today, I am going to take you through a guided meditation and visualisation technique, that will help you connect vibrationally to what you desire, and tap into the universe’s unlimited source of abundance.

For those of you who want to know what the Law of Attraction is, it :

So yesterday, I took our eldest daughter Cora on a surprise excursion.

Every Sunday, we used to make it a weekly habit, to go out and do an activity, where we had to face our fears. Or do something that challenged us mentally and physically.

And we hadn’t done it for a while. So I decided to take her to this place called Treetop Adventures. Out on the South Coast of Sydney.

Since I’ve always had a love of trees and enjoy climbing them…

I thought, why don’t we go ziplining?

Now for those of you who don’t know what ziplining is, you basically stand on a platform high up in the trees and you have this harness around your body, with 2 hooks and a pulley.

You attach these hooks and pulley to a metal cable, which is attached to the next tree 200 metres below. And to launch off, you basically step off the platform and hope to god the thing holds you. And you ride it all the way down to the next tree.

It’s kinda like you’re gliding through the trees.

I thought it would be fun you know.

So we went.

Little did I know, that it was going to be one of the most challenging things I’d ever done!

So the way it works is, you have 4 main levels, starting with the Green, then Blue, then Red, then Black. Black being the hardest.

Green is the easiest. You start quite low to the ground and you walk through an obstacle course, in and around the trees.

I was already pretty nervous, even though it was the easy level. I just didn’t know what to expect… as we climbed from one activity to the next.

The whole obstacle course is a made up of 100 sections. Some where you had to walk across mental cables… climbed nets that were suspended in the air, we swung on tarzan ropes…we climbed swinging ladders… and the further we got… the more physically and mentally challenging it was.

And worse than that, we went higher and higher and higher into the trees.

So not only did each section get harder, the fact that it was getting higher and higher, made the experience even more nerve wracking. To be honest. It was friggin scary!!!

All the while, my heart was pounding in my chest.

And to make matter worse, every time we finished a section of the course, we felt elated… but then it was onto the next challenge and then the fear set in again.

It was like a rollercoaster ride. Elation. Fear. Elation. Fear. Elation. Fear.

And, it didn’t help that while we were up there, we saw other people freaking out too.

So not only did we face the challenge of the actual activity before us, we also had to ignore the thoughts going through our heads.

You know the recurring shit, shit, shit… Or the thoughts of “I can’t do this.”

We had to ignore everything that was going on around us and just face our fears and keep going.

So anyway, we were up there for 3 hours, so I had some time to think too and keep my mind occupied.

So while I was up there… I was thinking… wow… this course is a representation of LIFE.

I tell you why?

* There were some challenges that were easier than others. Just like what you would experience in life.

* There were some that just stopped you dead in your tracks. Just like life.

* There were some challenges that made you want to run.

* Some that made you think Fck it.

* Some that made you feel elated and free!

And I also realized, that every time we conquered an extremely hard challenge, the feeling of elation was just as high too.

So, I thought, I’d talk about this in today’s podcast. Change it up a little bit.

What did I learn yesterday, that I can take away with me in life? Here’s a few tips of advice for you ladies.

* Being in the moment, is like being in flow with the universe. Life is a hell of a lot more colourful and joyful, when you are feeling and living in the NOW.

* Fear can take over you and control you if you let it.

 

Today, we’re going to tackle STRESS AND OVERWHELM!

If I can sum up my day as a mum, juggling businesses and projects, trying to meet deadlines and be present for my children at the same time…. most of the time, you could say it is PURE OVERWHELM.

Every day, I’m always running lists in my head, of what I need to do… and there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day to do anything!

I start the day with great intentions, I’m going to do this and this and this….

And before I know it, I haven’t even scraped the surface of what needs to be done even though I’ve spent all day rushing! Rushing writing content…. Rushing to work, rushing through my work… rushing doing the groceries… rushing with the kids…rush, rush, rush….

What a life huh? Can I get a “Hell yeah!” on this one?

Unfortunately, we all go through it. In particular, us women especially go through it and it’s become an epidemic! Dr Libby Weaver author of Accidentally Overweight, calls it the Rushing Woman’s Syndrome. I love that title, because its oh so true!

So today, I’m going to walk you through the top 6 tips that I have used personally, to restrict overwhelm in my life and I hope that it helps you too.

So let’s dive right in!

Tip 1: Write it all down baby!!!

When you’re mind is going a hundred miles and hour, with all the things you have to do… I find that if I just grab a notebook and pen and write it all down, I remove all the noise in my head and do a plain old BRAIN DUMP.

Every thought, every project… everything that I have to do, big or small… I get it all down on paper.

You’ll find that once you have it all down, the list isn’t as long as you think…. And by having it in plain sight, you can then, start to prioritise.

We’ve heard it all before… and it friggin works! So if you’re not doing this on a daily basis, try it! And see what happens!

Your mind will be a whole lot clearer once you brain dump.

Tip 2: Quit Caffeine! And that’s right… I especially mean that COFFEE that you can’t survive without!

Oh no, it’s the end of the world! I can hear you all screaming right now… NNNNNOOOOO!!!

Oh ladies, I used to feel the same way too. I love my coffee! I think I’m seriously addicted to the ritual of buying one, holding the hot cup in my hands and drinking the hot elixir.

But guess what I only just found out?

Well you see, for the past few months, I’ve been really trying to listen to the way my body feels. And I’ve noticed, that my hands have been sweating a lot, or I have a hard time breathing when I’m sitting at my desk and I felt anxious all the time.

I couldn’t quite figure it out…

It’s not like I’m overly stressed or anything. Everything is great in my life…. But I couldn’t help wonder what was causing my body to react in this way.

It wasn’t until I paid attention to when I drank my coffee, one morning when I realized that as I drank it… my hands started to sweat and I started feeling anxious again.

Instantly I knew that it was the coffee!!!

So I had to make a decision, should I continue with my love of coffee every morning and live with the anxiety and stress, or should I replace it with Camomile tea – something that I heard is great for anxiety?

The very first day, I replaced it with Camomile tea, I was calmer and my hands were dry. Now how about that?

And I also noticed that when I spoke to others, I wasn’t frantic!

So it turns out that Caffeine is a powerful nervous system drug that keeps your body on red alert and stimulates the body to the point of overwhelm.

So if you’re bitchy, snappy, lack patience… are sad or have low energy… get rid of the coffee and replace it with Green Tea, Ginger Tea or Camomile tea.

Trust me, you’re body will love you for it!

Tip 3: Meditate

This could be in the form of sitting still and breathing or you could learn an active medi...

* Do you find yourself settling for a mediocre life?

I mean, why would you?

Unfortunately, some of us do settle for mediocre.

Some of us settle for less than what we deserve.

Some of us settle for people who don’t respect us.

Some of us believe that this shitty life, is what we are dealt with, so we may as well lie in it and accept it.

Some of us lose hope. We feel that they have no other choice, but to deal with it. No matter, how much it hurts. Or how far it is from what they truly want in our lives.

Or for some, we have so many dreams, but we’re too afraid to follow them. Or we don’t believe we can achieve them or we don’t know where to start!

But you know what? That’s all bullsh*t.

And you know what, when we really start reconnecting with ourselves and really start listening to our own intuition, we know deep down its true.

We’re just not willing to face it yet. Or we’re too afraid and it’s paralyzing us. And that’s ok too. We all go through it.

But we will need to face our fears one day.

One thing that I know for certain, it’s this.

 

There is another way. There is always another way.

 

There’s opportunity everywhere to have a life that you want. You just need to see it.

You can create any life you want. You just need to believe it.

You deserve beautiful people in your life, that lights you up. You just need to value yourself as a woman.

You deserve to have the life of your dreams. You just need to trust that there is more out there for you.

I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. I’m not saying that the path is not going to be long, or difficult.

What I’m saying is….have the courage to walk that path. The path that will lead you to your happiness and your freedom.

Find that wild warrior woman in you and stand up for yourself and what you believe in.

Ignite that fire in you, that has been burning in your heart all along.

Find your true voice, that you’ve silenced for far too long.

You have it in you. We all do. Sometimes we just need someone to show us the way.

Get yourself out of that situation that you don’t want to be in.

Or that relationship that doesn’t serve you.

Follow your dreams, even if people are telling you not to!

Go through your life with bravery in your heart.

And find the strength to aim for only the best.

Because you damn right deserve the best!

* Don’t settle for mediocre.

* Don’t settle for pain.

* Don’t settle for negative people in your life who don’t respect you.

* Don’t settle for not being heard.

* Don’t settle for not following your dreams.

You only get one chance in life girlfriend and YOU ARE THE QUEEN O...

What does Freedom mean to you?

We can look at freedom from different perspectives.

From a business/career perspective…

You might want a job or business that doesn’t restrict you by location. Where you can have the opportunity to work around your own time, around children or in different locations.

You might want the freedom to choose what kind of job/or career you want to do?

Do you feel stuck in a job that you hate and do you want to be able to have the freedom to follow your passion?

From a life perspective…

You may be passionate about travel and want to spend the rest of your life doing this?

Maybe you might what to have a life where you can pick up the children from school and not be caught up in a 9 to 5.

From a personal perspective…

You might want freedom from the limiting beliefs stopping you from achieving all your goals…

Or you might want to release yourself from the hold that other people might have on you…

Freedom has many connotations and it’s up to you, what you want to achieve.

For me… it’s all about the freedom to own a business that I love, make the money that I want and have ultimate control of where I choose to spend my time… and just be present to experience life with my family!

That means I want Financial Freedom, Time Freedom, Location Freedom and Freedom of choice!

We only get one chance at life right? Why not have the best time ever?! Make it memorable!

So today, let’s begin to tackle the topic of financial freedom.

How you can set financial freedom goals for yourself and some of the things you must consider to get you on your way to achieving these.

I invite you to think for a moment.

What are your goals around your finances?

What does financial freedom mean to you.

How much money do you want to make… millions? Or a 6 figure income?

Most people I meet, want to make the millions. Because it seems to be the “in” thing these days!

The concept of earning “millions” has always been the pie in the sky goal that most people dream of. Most of us believe that if we earn millions, it will rid us of all our money problems.

More than likely, when you really do the calculations we really don’t need that much, to fulfill a life of everything that we need.

But you know what, most of the time, you don’t even need that much money to be financially free. You just need to break your ideal life down into little pieces, get an understanding of what you really need and then set some real goals to achieve it.

So if we break it up into small steps and set small achievable goals, we believe that it’s doable, so this in turn opens the flow of abundance.

So how do we do this?

Today’s episode will go through a short exercise,that can get your current on the track to true abundance and financial freedom.

This knowledge that I have in store for you today, has changed the way I think and live my life and it has made such a profound impact on me, I’m so grateful I learnt this when I did and I’m excited to be sharing this with you.
