The Will Spencer Podcast

Evan Amato is the founder of Rewire the West, a website and YouTube channel that helps men and women rediscover beauty, truth, and virtue in today's Western culture.

The key word is RE-discover, as in it's already there.

The West has a centuries-long tradition of the arts that we can turn to, if only we know where to turn.

And that's Evan's goal: to create resources that point us in the right direction and kick us in the behind to send us on our way.

He and I produced a series of videos together about men's isolation, which is why I'm grateful to host Evan on my podcast today.

In our conversation we discussed:

Will Knowland is a husband, father of 7, and educator.

You might have seen his Knowland Knows videos on YouTube, his articles on Substack, or scorching tweets where he takes down degeneracy, promiscuity, the Manosphere and more.

He was an educator at the prestigious UK boarding school Eton, which has produced 20 UK prime ministers. But he was sacked, or "fired" for producing a video called "The Patriarchy Paradox" which undermines all the core arguments of feminism.

That didn't stop him, though. In fact, it helped him reach a worldwide audience excited to hear what he had to say.

In our conversation, we discussed:

• His background at Eton and the story of how he was fired

Pastor Doug Wilson is the author, elder, preacher, teacher, and recalcitrant troublemaker from Moscow, Idaho.

And Christiana Hale is the author of “Deeper Heaven: A Reader’s Guide to the CS Lewis Ransom Trilogy.”

They were both my teachers in helping me understand a trilogy of books that have impacted my faith more deeply than I could have imagined.

Because in this 80-year old series, CS Lewis aims to reinspire the modern imagination about the spiritual and material shape of the cosmos… before the “scientifically-driven” view takes things too far.

And I believe these books are relevant for Christians today to help them see, fight, and win the cosmological war that’s taking place within the religious war raging all around us.

In this episode we discussed:

Alison Armstrong is a speaker, thought leader, friend, and bestselling author of The Keys to the Kingdom, and The Queen's Code.

In 2018, as I was discovering that the men's movement was much bigger than I realized, reading Tomassi and Donovan, and listening to Michler and Peterson, I also discovered Alison's books.

I saw myself reflected in them to a degree that I still find striking.

Now, almost 9 years after publishing the Queen's Code in print, she's finally released it in audiobook version, read in her voice. And not a moment too soon.

Because The Great Reconciliation is happening, and the Queen's Code audiobook is here to help us all hear and most importantly FEEL the way we could be, as women and as men, together.

In our conversation we discussed:

- Alison's journey to write and record the Queen's Code

Jeremy Stalnecker is a former Marine infantry officer and an Iraq War Veteran who earned a Navy Commendation Medal with V for Combat Valor.

He's also a former pastor, and the CEO and Co-Founder of the Mighty Oaks Foundation, a Christian organization supporting veterans and first responders, helping them adjust to civilian life and deal with PTSD from a biblical perspective.

He knows how capital T trauma, of the sort even civilians can't imagine, doesn't need to define us, as men.

We can't let trauma limit what God wants us to do in our lives.

Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of masculinity, driven by raw and honest self expression, help hurting men move forward.

Episode 3 of my three-part series, Live at ReformCon 2022.

Pastor Toby Sumpter and the Reverend Dr. Joe Boot are two men who need no introduction. I admire them both for being two of the boldest men to carry and plant the flag of Christ in culture, and for their moral, intellectual, and even spiritual courage.

Toby Sumpter hails from Moscow, Idaho, where he's a pastor, author, husband, father, blogger, and co-host of the popular podcast Cross Politic, hosts of the Fight Laugh Feast conference.

Pastor Toby and I discussed:

- The politics of 6-day creation

Dr. Joe Boot is the founder of the Ezra Institute for Contemporary Christianity, and the founding pastor of the Westminster Chapel in Toronto. He's the author of several books, including the classic Mission of God, and has worked in the fields of Christian apologetics, worldview education and church leadership for over twenty years on both sides of the Atlantic.

Dr. Boot and I discussed:

- Aristotle’s impact on Christianity through Thomas Aquinas;

Thank you to both my honored guests for their precious time during a busy weekend.

Episode 2 of my three-part series, Live At ReformCon 2022

Jeremiah Roberts and Andrew Soncrant are the hosts of the hit international podcast Cultish.

The show explores what they call "The Kingdom of the Cults", or the broad array of religions and practices around the world that mimic the behavior of a cult.

They’ve covered Mormonism, astrology, tarot, faith healing, Reiki, polygamy, flat earth, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, the Enneagram, and even right wing politics and many sects of so-called Christianity.

I also did three episodes with Cultish recently about Burning Man, and ayahasuca.

It's vital that Christians have fluency with these beliefs and grasp how to refute them from a Christian perspective, which is why the ministry of Cultish is so important.

In this conversation the three of us discussed:

This past week, I hosted a podcast booth at ReformCon in Mesa, Arizona, a two-day conference put on by Apologia Church about reclaiming culture for Christ.

The point of the conference is that it's not enough to be adept theologically. We must apply that theological rigor to the culture and institutions that surround us.

At the conference, I conducted five sit-down interviews, to be released over three episodes.

In this episode I interview:

Pastor David Reece from Armored Republic. In the interview we discuss:

– His new A3 product

Criminal defense attorney Davis Younts. In the interview we discuss:

– His work with his organization Stand With Warriors

Dale Partridge is the Pastor of Reformation Fellowship in Sedona, AZ.

He heads up an impressive content creation network on the web, social media, and in print that evangelizes Reformed theology in a crisp, clear, and aesthetic way.

Dale understands that perhaps one of the most important wars that any of us fight today is the war for attention. So what differentiates his content is not just theological rigor, but economy of exposition.

In our conversation we discussed

- His book "the Manliness of Christ" and the effeminacy of the American Christian church

William Butler (WB) Yeats (1865-1939) is an acclaimed Irish poet and the winner of the 1923 Nobel Prize for Literature.

He said, "The mystical life is the centre of all that I do and all that I think and all that I write." That statement takes shape in this, one of the last poems in his life.

In this episode, I explore Yeats complicated and checkered past, and show the kind of fruit borne in the lives of those who practice mystical and occult arts.

And I highlight the differences between the results of a life lived for self, and that lived for something far beyond the self.
